UK, US, others voted against UN resolution against racism, xenophobia

The United Kingdom(UK), United States(UN) voted against a resolution to take action against racism at the 51st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Meanwhile most countries in Africa, Arab and Asian regions gave their nod. A few countries were absent.

Other countries that voted against the resolution include Czech, France, Germany, Montenegro, the Netherlands and Poland.

The UN news, in a statement, said "the Council requested the Office of the High Commissioner to provide a written report, at the fifty third session, on the progress on the two-year comprehensive communications strategy, inclusive of an outreach programme to raise awareness about and mobilize global public support for racial equality."
