Majority fit within male XY or female XX.
But there are population of people that would fall in between that, and we call them intersex, which can have XXY genes for example, or have other conditions that can affect their hormone washes.

There actually are other anomalies like men with XYY genes, or women with XX,X genes also.
Biology never has clean cut lines. So no sex is factually more of a bimodal spectrum, The teacher would be partially incorrect here.
