Working as a designer is challenging. You’re expected to be creative on the clock. You have to come up with ideas that will wow your clients or your company during office hours—and it’s not always easy to just switch on your creative thoughts.

Designer’s block is scary for anyone working in the field. But you need to know that it’s completely normal. Even the most experienced designers in the world get blocked creatively from time to time.

One great way to break your block is to look around for inspiration. If you work in online or digital design, you might want to do some research into your field and find your inspiration there. A great place to start is with user interfaces, as they dictate the form and function a design needs to follow.

The 3 Most-Used Types Of User Interfaces
The user interface plays a major role in digital design. Every user interface needs to be enticing, and interesting, and provide a user experience that is positive.

Let’s take a look at the most commonly used types of user interfaces that can offer inspiration and direction:

Graphical User Interface
Pretty much all computers these days operate with a graphical user interface (GUI). A GUI is essentially a graphical representation of what the user needs to do. For example, on your computer desktop, you have a recycle bin and you can use your mouse cursor to drag files into the bin when you want to delete them.

The most modern evolution of the GUI is for touchscreens. This has taken the design world even further into the graphical realm. A touchscreen user interface is even more intimate and realistic because most people use their fingers to select icons and perform tasks.

Menu-Driven Interface
This type of interface is built using menus that provide the user with set options and set pathways for completing tasks. The most common example would be the settings menu on your smartphone or television. The user has choices based on set parameters and they move through the interface, selecting options that suit them.

It’s important that this kind of interface is properly structured and that the menu options provided are logical and intuitive for the user. You don’t want them to spend time clicking through all of the options to find the one that works best. Users need to easily see what the options mean and how they’ll impact their experience.

Conversational Interface
When you add audio and speech into the user interface, you get a conversational interface. This brings together both graphical and menu-driven interface methods and adds the ability to verbally make selections and perform actions. Conversation interfaces integrate voice commands like those you use on Siri, Alexa, and Google.

You might think that this doesn’t have much to do with design, but you need to ensure that the interface still looks good and encourages people to make use of it.

It’s also important to note that features like chatbots and messenger apps also fall under the conversational interface umbrella. These features need to have a good flow to them so that conversations are encouraged and users want to.. read more.... https://alabiansolutions.com/blog/3-interface-designs-that-will-get-you-inspired-when-experiencing-designers-block/
