If the way government (all tiers) agencies spend money by 1/3 (in which I will still consider too expensive ). Our debt will reduce significantly by just 2 years.

How can you be using about 90% of your lean generated revenues to be servicing debts, borrowing to fund budget and allowing humongous institutional corruption to thrive uncontrollablly then say this shit?

With the unprecedented hardship they have inflicted upon the countless hapless and downtrodden masses in the nation, the impulse solution to their debt accumulation is to continue to impose more taxes. Are these idiots well @ all?

Watch how some of our people will come and defend this because of political affiliation. We shouldn't be playing partician politics all year round. Nobody talks about political party here in Aussie. People are much concerned about the economy and general warfare but my fatherland. . .

And how life will be under Obi?

I guess he will order IMF, WORLD BANK, ADB, CHINA etc to write off Nigeria debt.

Or maybe he will sack half of civil servants

Oga stop deceiving urself about Obi, by projecting him as if he is messiah ,they rated Buhari higher than this 8 years ago.

The best way to reduce Nigeria's debt is by cutting (to the minimum level) the cost of running the government.

It's too expensive for a country in so much debt

E no concern me, my guy!

This was how we vehemently warned you people about Buhari, y'all were too thick headed to listen. The APC as a party is evidently demonic and incompetent, but the lot of you are too blinded by tribal sentiments to reason properly.

Una go suffer pass this one.

Stop jumping into conclusions. The tax idea is for big corporations operating in the country. Imagine if MTN alone is paying a very valuable tax, Dangote group, the Chinese companies, Julius Berger, Brewery, Unilever, even import tax and the rest of the billion dollar corps in the country. It generates more wealth for the nation. For me, I do support it. SMEs may have to pay more on interest rate but it also means more loans will be granted which will facilitate more circular jobs and incomes for an average Nigerian. Your normal VAT is only 6% while corporations have to pay double digit figures. This is not that much of a bad idea in my opinion. Most advanced countries generate a lot from tax policies.

u cannot collect more taxes to pay debts. what values are u giving to make people pay more taxes?? taxes are paid on value. U borrowed irresponsibily and want to tax the people to pay for ur irresponsibility?

Also what revenue leakages are u talking about or u mean corruption in ur government?

Toll gates should return

It's high time we had digital tolling on federal roads

Lagos - Ibadan alone can generate 100s of Billions anually if properly tolled, same as second Niger Bridge and Kaduna- Abuja, Lokoja - Abuja roads

Nigerian Railway Corporation should start moving Cargos with the old narrow gauge rail instead of giving the revenue to trailer and truck owners alone

.
I surely agree with you on this, but Buhari's government is not creative to look into stuffs like this, they only care about oil and borrowing.

Who did Nigerians think would bear the brunt of paying back the debt? Ofcouse more taxes.

For those saying Nigerians don't pay taxes but want to japa ....Correction please. The average Nigerian pays taxes (but the much being paid isn't reflecting in their lives. Tax isn't meant to be stolen or spent on funding the lavish lifestyles of government officials). A little check will show you it's the politicians, their cronies and rich folk who evade taxes ....World over.

Cutting cost of government is not much a brilliant idea. We haven't even started with defence budget yet in this country. You accumulate wealth by generating new ways and avenue. Reduction only put you 2 steps backwards and for the most a temporal solution and not a permanent one.

Sanusi Lamido even said they are using 108% of generated revenue to service debt, thateans they are still borrowing the remaining 8% for debt servicing.

See eh my guy, your attempts at trolling or hauling offensive sarcasm isn't exactly of relevance to me. I care not for whatever political choices you all decide to make but one thing is certain, of all the prominent candidates gunning for the Presidency, Tinubu is easily the worst. But as usual, you all can decide to make the dumb choice of electing him. The consequences will solely be on you.
