Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State Wednesday declared that  the outcome of the presidential election was a lesson for the North, adding that the North has no choice than to negotiate back into the mainstream.

Said he:  “as Northern states, we have to negotiate ourselves back to the mainstream; that is what we have to do if we must reclaim our position in this nation. We must ensure that anybody who wants to discriminate on religion or sow the seed of discord fails”.

The Niger state governor said  Nigerians and the people of Niger State in particular have thousand and one reasons to thank God that the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Major General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd), did not win the April presidential election, saying his state would have been a goner if Buhari had won.

He said “we thank God that Buhari did not win the presidential election in the country; we would have been a goner by now. People like that will not win election because God judges people by their intentions. It is always good to have good intention”.

Aliyu was at a retreat organized for State Houses of Assembly members-elect held in Jos, Plateau State on Wednesday, where he stressed again and again that “if the CPC had won the presidential election coupled with the victory they recorded in Niger state, PDP would have been a goner in Niger state”.

Meanwhile, a petition has been brought against the Director General of the Major General Muhammadu Buhari Presidential Campaign Organization, Alhaji Sule Hamma, at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) by the former proterm National Financial Secretary of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Bayo Abdulwahab for allegedly diverting presidential campaign donations to his company’s account.

The petitioner also asked the EFCC to investigate the former National Treasurer of the party, Hon. Hadi Sirika over his role in the botched N22.5m contract for a biometric membership registration exercise of the party.

The petition, which was dated May 27th and addressed to the Chairman of the EFCC, alleged that Hamma had diverted the party’s presidential campaign donations recieved from party supporters to his private company, SHY Nigeria Limited through its accounts in UBA and Zenith banks domiciled at Transcorp Hilton Hotel.

No, he is not a fool at all. He is speaking the mind of many jittery northern elite and their feudal rulers.
Buhari's presidency would have spelt a doom for them and boy did work hard that it didn't happen?
These are the people responsible for the change of scope and character of the riot after the election from sponteneous riot into burning of churches and killing corpers. But our tribal bigotry could not allow us to see how Buhari's candidacy has demistified the northern elite and they have no choice than to work for Jonathan for safety or was forced into unwanted neutrality.

Buhari Loss is good omen . . .It indirectly purged the false believe that a region can go it alone without appealing to the conscience of the entire regions of Nigeria . . .And suddenly the Middle belt are now stealthily disengaging themselves from the North . . The political landscape of Nigeria is getting more autonomous
Re: Babangida Aliyu: Thank God Buhari Lost The Election by Lagosboy: 3:22pm On Jun 02, 2011
This guy speaks to much and most of the time it is utter rubbish that he speaks. All this guy is worried about is that he almost lost his seat to CPC and is happy he won by whatever means he used.

The northern elite are jittery about the masses taken over in the person of Buhari, they fear their relevance will be lost forever. This new guys want to be the face of the north in 2015 and beyond. Buhari is this and Buhari is that , when he should bloody focus on governance in his state.
Re: Babangida Aliyu: Thank God Buhari Lost The Election by Nobody: 4:12pm On Jun 02, 2011
All looters were relieved that Buhari was blocked from getting into power.

See IBB saying he will now retire from politics once he was sure that Buhari has been rigged out of the presidency.
Re: Babangida Aliyu: Thank God Buhari Lost The Election by rasputinn(m): 4:42pm On Jun 02, 2011
Truth is bitter
Babangida Aliyu has just told Buhari the plain truth that no one wishing to be president of Nigeria can adopt an ethnic/regional posture.Nigeria does not begin and end in the Northern states

Though he tried to rig,but the groundswell of popular support and votes for the nationally accepted and very-well-loved Dr Goodluck Jonathan, ensured that Buhari's rigging and use of under-aged voters didn't count for anything meaningful
Re: Babangida Aliyu: Thank God Buhari Lost The Election by Nobody: 5:03pm On Jun 02, 2011
^^
So who was responsible for registering the under age voters?

Buhari or the Government?

That is correct ! it was the Governement, so the government used underage voters to rig in the Northern states

Do you get it?

Re: Babangida Aliyu: Thank God Buhari Lost The Election by Kilode1: 5:35pm On Jun 02, 2011
This is another good reason why Buhari should have won that election.

All these Pro-status quo, oppressive Northern Politicans, just like their ilk in other parts of the country are afraid of Buhari's radical stance, they don't trust the man because they are looters, oppressors and deceivers.

A country in a radical situation needs a focused radical leader with the will to lead and inspire fundamental changes.

Babangida Aliyu and his goons will remain bad news for Nigeria.

One day, one day, Monkey go collect hin banana. lipsrsealed

Much as I agree with you that people always tend to identify with successes,Babangida Aliyu has always been a pragmatic politician.

Last year, when the PDP's numerous presidential candidates were holding their declaration rallies,Babangida Aliyu, while speaking at Jonathan's declaration at the eagle square, informed that though he attended that of IBB some days earlier,he had to be at GEJ's too and(with an apparent implication that IBB wasn't likely to get the ticket) advised party faithfuls not to diminish the personalities of people like IBB as whoever succeeded in clinching the ticket would need the support of all partymen

Follow some of his other comments and you'll see that he quite frankly  says it as it is

Finally without fear of contradiction am here to declare Aliyu babangida an ASS licker of the highest order I've always suspected him since he tried to stop ACN from campage in Minna. He is just scared of the entire PDP corrupt culture SON OF A BITCH!DAN GIDAN KARUWA

So that is your idea of pragmatism, IBB supporter on Wednesday and Jonathan's on Thursday by the same person? Sometimes I wonder,

Of course every PDP looter and all other thieving politicians would be extremely happy that Buhari lost. BUhari's victory would have shaken the cabal of looters to

their bones and it wouldn't be business as usual for them anymore.

Babangida Aliyu is just being too honestly outspoken and has just aired the mind of his folks.
Re: Babangida Aliyu: Thank God Buhari Lost The Election by dempeople(m): 9:47pm On Jun 02, 2011
My eye has been on this Aliyu of a governor for sometime. I think Babangida Aliyu and Sule Lamido are amongst the very few radical, pragmatic and opinionated governors up there in the north.

Sule Lamido will surely have my vote any day if, there'll ever be a northern candidate in the presidential elections before we finally draw the curtain on One Nigeria.
Re: Babangida Aliyu: Thank God Buhari Lost The Election by enyojo(f): 10:01pm On Jun 02, 2011
Babangida Aliyu lost to CPC, regardless of what they submitted to INEC.
This is not to say that he is not a hardworking Gov.
Atleast he built about 500 houses in Minna and decorated or beautified rather the roundabouts in Minna

But he has wide mouth
