IGR: Ogun Refutes Budgit Report, As NBS Confirms State’s True Position by blancsn1(op): 8:22am On Oct 20, 2022
Ogun State government has refuted BudgIT Foundation’s widely publicised report on internally generated revenue across the 36 states of the federation, saying the group got the state’s financial status wrong.

In a letter to the foundation’s director by the state Commissioner for Finance, Dapo Okubadejo, the government described BudgIT Foundation’s ranking of Ogun State as having an IGR of N78.17billion for 2021 as inaccurate and misleading.

It provided the state ’s Audited report from the Joint Tax Board and the state’s Audited Financial Statement, which put the state’s IGR for 2021 at N100.9 billion.

The government demanded a retraction of the said publication, which it said had caused the state reputational damage.

Its position was corroborated by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, which, on Tuesday, released the correct IGR figures for Ogun State, confirming the efforts by the Dapo Abiodun-led administration to put the economy on a sound footing and make Ogun Nigeria’s top investment destination.

According to NBS, in its latest report, the 36 states and the FCT recorded IGR to the tune of N1.89 trillion in 2021, against the 2020 figure of N1.56 trillion, a 22 per cent year-on-year positive growth.

According to the report, Ogun, which grew its IGR from N50.6bn in 2020 to N100.7bn in 2021, performed excellently on its IGR index, being only out-performed by Lagos State, Nigeria’s economic capital (N753.3bn); the Federal Capital Territory (FCT N131.9bn) and Rivers State, a top oil-producing state (N123.3bn).

Notable industrialists and investors, such as Tony Elumelu and Aliko Dangote, have ranked Ogun as Nigeria’s most industrialized state, which has benefited massively from Governor Abiodun’s experience as a board room guru before his foray into politics.

Ogun state is more developed than Kano, Kaduna and Katsina states combined.

Small Edo state did better than Kano state.

My state Lagos can afford to buy over all Northern states.

So what has Abiodun done with the IGR increase since Awo's state does not have free education for all children in schools with enough teachers?
Has he been stealing the commonwealth along with the allocation and loans just like his predecessors since 1999? Is Abiodun and his APC progressives or a biunch of progreTHIEVEShuh

From your word, no doubt you are envy of the Igbos. Tinubu is going no where. Atiku has Atikulated North while Obi has Obidified South.

Atiku is a goal. No Northerns will vote for Tinubu

Potable water still luxury 23 years after return of democracy

WHILE the Federal Government continues to proliferate the country with dams, it is such an irony that a state like Lagos, with its massive, constant boast of being a megacity, cannot provide its residents, thereby forcing the bulk of them to take solace in the arms of water boreholes.

At regular intervals, the two major waterworks in the state, the Adiyan, and Iju get grounded leading to the non-availability of water. In April and May last year, for instance, they both produce less than 10% of their installed capacity.

As of today, Eti-Osa, Apapa, Victoria Island, Badagry, Ibeju Lekki, Surulere, Ikorodu, Agege, Ojo, Mushin Kosofe, and most locations in the state are without access to clean water. Consequently, millions of residents now rely on boreholes, rivers, rainwater, as well as comprised wells for their water needs.

On its website, the LWC claims that it has a total installed water production capacity of 210 million gallons per day (MGD), which is far lower than the current estimated daily water demand of 540 million gallons per day.

Also, its plan to produce 745 million gallons per day by the year 2020 through the Lagos Water Supply Master Plan fell flat with the actual number of citizens having access to potable water dropping, rather than increasing 11 years after the launch of the master plan.

A senior staff of LWC, who preferred anonymity said that at present, its agency only supplies water to Lekki, parts of Ikoyi, Victoria Island (VI), Ojodu, Iju, and some parts of Ikotun.

But the same region you call names are asking to leave your country and your leaders say no.

The same leaders are much aware of what awaits you if Igbo get Biafra.
