Proves that despite the hairy chest beating, markets like Alaba have no bearing on lagos finances. Lagos can lock the place for six months without batting eyelids. We know the leaches that’ll suffer more tho. I implore the lasg to lock the market till late next year to teach flat heads lesson.

I concur.

Invaders should know their boundaries or else, more of such markets will be closed in nearest future.

We will teach them a bitter lesson, we seems to be too accommodative.

From 2023, things will be redefined in Lagos.

Reading comments of most of the morons above, you will understand why this country may neva get beta. Lagos state govt cannot do without a permanently locked Alaba market. Their goods are imported through the ports that the govt also benefit from. Agberos come to beg and shalaye for daily livelihood from those who do their businesses there.. It is only a daft that believes the govt will lock up the market for long

It's really shameful reading those comments up there. They are not even ashamed that outsiders came to lagos and made a name for themselves by creating the biggest electronics market in West Africa and arguably sub saharan Africa. All they come to do is collect levies and revenue.

Unfortunately, most of the tribalist inciting Igbo against Yoruba and vice versa do not have shops and investment in Lagos.

I honestly do not think and support that the market be closed without clear path to peace. The traders and RTEAN are both wrong in my opinion but OP is right that the traders have more to lose.
Please let us live together in peace and respect one another. All those hate filled bigotted ipob terrorist group members hating on Yoruba do not represent the Igbo race. True Igbo loves and respect their Yoruba host and same with a true Omoluabi.

Ipob terrorists do not represent the igbo. It was ipob terrorists and not Igbo as a race that burnt down Lagos

I only read and hear those hate speeches on nairaland and not in real life.

In a sane country, this thread would be locked and deleted. It is inciting violence.

Why are people evil nowadays?

You can't leave. If you do, na die be dat. Half your entire land is wash off by erosion and the little size left can't occupy your population, so, you're stuck. But if you left, it'd be good for everyone.
Before half of your population migrated to SW, Ghanians were here doing business with us. During the war, we were going for Owambe and going about our businesses normally. No one will miss you.

Why would they be ashamed of being real business people and present in all professional endeavors than being mere petty teaders like Igbos.
Yorubas are the only real business people of Nigerian descent doing multibillion businesses abroad e.g Bayo Ogunlesi,Lookman Kas Lawal etc.
Igbos are poor petty traders.Reason UNDP always say they are the poorest in the South.
Yorubas have always from inception of Nigeria, been the richest.UNO has continually affirm this..

Shouldn’t you be happy that Lagos economy will collapse based on your delusion that Alaba people are the one powering it?

Abi why are you crying when you should be happy that the Lagos state won’t be able to pay workers salary because your delusional Alaba feed it.

IPOB terrorists wey their region IGR collectively no reach Ogun state own go come online dey parrot nonsense say na them dey build IGR for the SW.

As they don close the market nao, shebi na Obi of Onitsha go come open am back as per se na your ancestor get Lagos?

Lagos state government should just buy the whole SE region states and use it for cattle ranching since it’s an unproductive region where her inhabitants constantly run away from like it’s a war torn region.

You IPOB terrorists people think upside down.

Yes, the reason for closing down the market... after the election, LASG should weigh available options - opening, demolishing and rebuilding, etc.

Bami no dey mind those dumbo's, they are filled with hate and evil mindset, the Eebos are paying taxes to the Govt, after getting their containers, these owomida miscreants will still extort them on the road to their shops or warehouse, they will still come to the warehouse and shops for taxes.

Lazy bunch of entities. If the owners of Lagos decide to close down the market, who would loose? How will they generate their IGR? I trust omo yebbos they will so deal with the owner of Lagos at the Poll.

They can actually. How much do you think you contribute to Lagos state? The whole of alaba cannot give Lagos what Dangote is giving them as tax.

They want the outsider to take their market to wherever they come from that is what their actions implies. Igbos have always wanted to move your market to Alaigbo n this is ample opportunity to do that

Tinubu supporters are now glorifying thuggery. The closure of the market shows they will always back thugs over hardworking people. Awolowo will be rolling in his grave. Thugs are now "The land owners" while hardworking people are "the tenants".

For your information, plenty of Yoruba traders also trade in Alaba, but according to Tinubu supporters they don't matter; they will only matter when they become agbero. Shameful. This is one of Tinubu's destructive legacies to Southwest. If you are Yoruba and hardworking, you don't matter: you are just a tenant. The only people who matter are the thugs who, according to Tinubu supporters, are your landlords. Tinubu and his supporters do not mean well for you.

In fact, they do not mean well for all of us. Think of the children.
