The application for UNIBEN JUPEB, also known as the FOUNDATION PROGRAMME, is now available.

Applications are now being sold by the University of Benin (UNIBEN) for enrollment in its JUPEB program for the academic year 2022–2023.

Candidates can receive Direct Entry Admission into the 200 level of degrees offered by UNIBEN and other JUPEB-affiliated Universities in Nigeria and abroad thanks to UNIBEN JUPEB.

About UNIBEN JUPEB Programme
The program results in the awarding of the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) Certificate, allowing candidates to obtain Direct Entry Admission into the 200 level of the degrees offered by the University of Benin and other JUPEB-affiliated Universities in Nigeria and universities abroad. The JUPEB Certificate is comparable to the Old Higher School Certificate (HSC), the Advance Level GCE, and the IJMB.

Each candidate accepted into the program will undergo rigorous academic training in three subject combinations related to their chosen area of study. Each candidate enrolls in six courses per semester, for a total of twelve courses at the end of the program. The subjects are divided into four courses with the designations 001, 002, 003, and 004. Additionally, candidates will enroll in two general studies classes (one per semester). Each course will be assessed at the conclusion of each semester, but at the conclusion of the second semester, the results from all the courses taken will be combined to produce a letter grade for each subject (i.e. A, B, C, D, E & F).

The general studies to be chosen by each candidate will be based on general courses relevant to the field of study.

For admission into the University of Benin and other JUPEB affiliate institutions, each candidate, in addition to passing the prescribed JUPEB examination for issuing the Direct Entry Certificates, must satisfy all admission requirements prescribed by departments and faculties of choice.

UNIBEN JUBEB Admission Requirements, Subject Combinations & Duration

Admission Requirements:

Candidates seeking admission into the JUPEB Foundation Programmes must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes in at least five (5) subjects at “O” Level, including English language and Mathematics at not more than 2 sittings in the GCE, SSCE (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB).

For direct admission into degree programs at the University of Benin and other JUPEB affiliate universities, such as OAU, UNILAG, UNN, UNIYO, FUTA, FUNAAB, UNIPORT, etc., all of the combinations shown in the table below meet the entry requirements.

Duration of Programme:

The duration of the study is a minimum of one Academic Session of TWO SEMESTERS. It is a strictly non-residential programme.

Mode of Study:

Face-to-face contact at the University of Benin or other designated venues. Lectures will be conducted from 8 am – 4 pm, Monday to Friday.
