Unemployment means you are without employment and actively searching for a job. If a person is without work but not actively searching for a job, then that person is considered to be underemployed. Unemployment is a risk even for skilled people. In some cases, people are underemployed due to underperforming skills. Underemployment may be a temporary phase for some people who are restraining themselves from becoming marketable in the job market. The level of unemployment and underemployment is a measure of economic distress.

what is unemployment?

Investopedia defines unemployment as a situation where a person is searching for employment but is unable to find that work or job. Also, the corporate finance institute gave us an insight into their way of defining the word “unemployment” as referring to individuals who are employable and actively seeking a job but are unable to find a job.

Unemployment is an economic factor that signifies the country's standard or level of workers in a particular industry thereby making them productive to the economy of the nation.

Types Of Unemployment

There are various types of unemployment around the world, but according to various factors and economists I will be mentioning 3 types of unemployment here:

Voluntary Unemployment:

This kind of unemployment is “voluntary” in the sense that it has to do with when a worker decides within him/herself to leave a particular work, job, or organization because it not being able to meet his/her financial needs.

Frictional

This kind of unemployment is seen as a way when a worker is working in between, for example when a worker recently quit or was fired and is looking for a job in an economy or company that is not experiencing a recession.

Demand deficient

This kind of unemployment is seen as one of the biggest and most common causes of unemployment, why this is common said, for example; assuming a company or organization is having a reduction in demand for either their products or services, the company decides to cut production in other to reduce cost and also lay off workers, that is what is “demand deficient unemployment”.

Underemployment is what I was almost into few weeks back.
