Pipe supplying water from radiator to engine got bad and I didn't take notice on-time. So they were limited supply of water.

And I was careless to check my temperature at the dashboard.

I called my mechanic and he said my top gasket got burnt. He said if we get it replaced, it will be alright.

My friend who's in to car dealing business said he can help me sell it and get another car.

What's you take about this? Continue with the car or sell it?

You're sounding like it's a Big Problem, I also had similar issue with my Peugeot 407, intact mine was more severe than yours that I started thinking of selling the car.

But I got a very good Mechanic and I changed it , no issues since then, Infact I like the new one than the follow come cos it improved the movement.

This is very true. My car become so soft both in sound and movement

Just change the gasket and continue using ur car, I have changed too many cars gasket and no issue except one which I will never advise anyone to buy ,na this yeye MDX Acura 2008 model that SUV is very useless

Very few mechanics can change that without causing a change in sound of your vehicle.

Did that to one of my cars last year out of ignorance, mechanic saw oil inside radiator, and said my top gaskest has burnt...I allowed him to change it,The sound became louder with other issues..I sold the car sha.

And got aother replacement recently. Just few mechanics can handle this issue well.

I don't think so. Many people are ignorant about the functioning of car engine. The gasket is just 3000. Black gum is just 800.
The Labour cannot be more than 2000.This is applicable in Kano city.
But, I was told that mechanic in the south west and Lagos are highly exploitative. Definitely he will be convinced to buy a new engine or sell the car.

I'm not disputing what you drive, however just cos your Engine was dropped does not mean it has to, Mechanic well some unscrupulous ones will create jobs for themselves, so you pay more.!st off, you are able to identify what gasket was changed. Your car has more than 10 gaskets. Ur Engine will likely be dropped if the block needs work on . if not, that's wastage of tie labour and money. Anyways what do I know
