hmm. maybe this is the story. we had an experience like this like 10 years ago when they bought a used turbocharger for the building generator and it caught fire . from the generator to the diesel tank. diesel is hard to ignite, but once it catches fire it is even harder to put out.

Business should learn not to depend on a failed government for basic things mostly when it relates to safety...

A fully equipped fire fighting systems ( fire hydrants, fm200 etc) would have averted this disaster if in place...

Individual buildings can install smoke detectors and water sprinkler systems. Especially multibillon naira high rise buildings.
In my opinion, that is as important as insurance, since the electrical materials we use are known to be low quality.

Fortunately, I was present when the explosion rocked and there was concerted effort to put off the fire before the fire service arrived, a few minutes later.
Media reportage is always distorted to whip up sentiments, fire service came almost immediately but before then frantic efforts were made by many people who brought their fire extinguishers in droves to help quel the carnage.

Infact I was @ Coscharis building 2meters from the scene adjacent to adeola Odeku junction
The explosion started from the back and escalated to the front seems a workman was working on a generator thereby exploding within split seconds.

3 fire service vehicle came to the rescue at different intervals 20mins in between which is a good response to such incident which wasn’t pre-planned considering their distant location coupled with traffic from falomo and Lekki axis respectively. since it has already been put out by a Hilux who went to reinforce with a powder fire extinguisher nearby they couldn’t do much rather they did inventory investigations on the cause and solutions to it . Cars and 1 person only got burnt with minor several injuries.

I only pity the company involved they will be heavily fined for this incident whether it’s their fault or not because Odeku is the most renowned street in VI axi.
