If you're wondering why the @NgLabour campaign kick-off didn't have a bigger crowd compared with its rallies, here's what the Campaign DG @doyinokupe revealed to me. Details tonight on @CTVHardcopy at 8.30pm on @channelstv
#2023Elections

https://twitter.com/MaupeO/status/1588511287776268288

This is a transcription of the contents of the video.

Dr Doyin Okupe: "In Nasarawa we were served by the ruling party. . .or ruling government, a good shot.

You will not believe it that we did not get the final permit for the landing of the helicopter of our principals until the morning (that Saturday morning) of the rally. That's 1.

Number 2, the venues. I sent 22 member advance team, but for 48 hours they could not do anything because we could not even get permit among the 3 or 4 various venues we have chosen, you know, the government was not available to give us permit, but for the intervention of some very high level royal people in Lafia, that rally would not have held.

Then, the master blow that they dealt us with was, in Nasarawa, for the past 7 or 8 years, nobody has ever heard of environmental sanitation, but government from no where, on Thursday, declared that Saturday an environmental sanitation day; declared a curfew the night before on Friday (I hope you understand) and that nobody can move until 10am on Saturday.

So it was impossible.

The people you saw there were the people we managed and struggled, you know and our support groups brought together from Lafia and environs alone. 90% of our supporters all over the state could not get access. They could not even come, because some people are living 3 hours away, some 2 hours away, you know, they would not be able to leave their places until 10 and on Friday they could not go out in the evening.

So all those things happened, but we give glory to God, it's a beginning, it's OK".

Maupe Ogun-Yusuf: "So somehow you are alleging that the All Progressives Congress. . ."

Dr Doyin Okupe: "I am not alleging. It is a statement of fact. You can check it".

Maupe Ogun-Yusuf: "I am a journalist. I have to use the term alleging"

Dr Doyin Okupe: "They actually announced an environmental sanitation that Saturday. That has not happened for 7 years in Nasarawa State.

Nasarawa re-launches monthly environmental sanitation exercise

By Agency Report August 31, 2019 Reading Time: 2 mins read

The Nasarawa State government on Saturday re-launched the monthly environmental sanitation and promised to reward the cleanest local government area.

During the launch in Akwanga, Governor Abdullahi Sule advised the people to always keep their environments clean to be healthy.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Emmanuel Akabe, advised the people to avoid indiscriminate dumping of refuse to make the environment clean.

“In our determination to keep the environment clean at all times, we have decided to re-introduce the monthly sanitation.

“It is in view of this that the government wants to call on everybody to reciprocate the state government’s gesture by protecting and keeping their environment clean.

“This is because a healthy nation is a wealthy nation. We must comply with the state government’s directive on monthly sanitation for healthy living,” he said.

The governor promised to reward the cleanest local government area at the end of every month.

He also urged traditional and religious leaders as well as other stakeholders not to relent in their efforts toward educating their subjects on the need to keep their environments clean.

Mr Sule directed chairpersons of all local government and development area authorities to ensure strict compliance with instructions on the exercise.

The governor restated his commitment to execute good policies and programmes that would affect the lives of the people positively.

The Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Environment and Solid Minerals, Usman Abu, urged the people to change their attitudes to environmental cleanliness.

“We commend the governor for the return of the monthly sanitation as it will go a long way in keeping our environment clean,” he said.

The Executive Chairman, Akwanga Local Government, Samuel Meshi, also commended the governor for re-introducing the exercise.

Mr Meshi said the programme would go a long way in improving the health and standard of living of the people.

He promised that people in the area would continue to support government policies and programmes to enable them to succeed.

Nasarawa Govt apprehends 103 persons for violating sanitation laws

27th August 2022
in National

The enforcement teams of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources on Saturday arrested 103 persons for allegedly violating environmental sanitation laws.

Mr Abubakar Mohammed, Chief Prosecuting Officer of the ministry, disclosed this to newsmen in Lafia after the state’s monthly sanitation exercise.

He said that the offenders were arrested by their men across the 13 local government areas of the state for transacting their private businesses while the sanitation exercise was in progress.

Mohammed said that the offences violated the provisions of Section 9 (2) of the State Environmental Sanitation Law.

He explained that the offenders were prosecuted by various Mobile Courts across the state to serve as a deterrent to others.

Meanwhile, Yakubu Kwanta, Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, expressed satisfaction at the level of compliance with the sanitation exercise.

The Commissioner said that about the 90 per cent of the residents complied by locking up their shops and businesses to clean their surroundings during the exercise.

Kwanta lauded the traditional rulers, chairmen of area councils as well as the security agencies for the success of the exercise.

He said the state was shutdown during the exercise in line with the law, except for those on essential services.

“We only allowed those with permission from relevant authorities and those on essential services to pass and move around during the exercise,” he added.

Kwanta noted that the ministry had strengthened the capacity of the inspectors, and deployed them to rural areas for house-to-house inspection to enhance efficiency.

He called on the public to always keep their environment clean to guard against outbreaks of diseases.

“Residents should cooperate more with the government towards ensuring that the state is clean in their best interest.

“If the environment is kept clean, it will guard against a possible outbreak of any disease, thereby ensuring improved healthy living of the people,” he said.

The Commissioner said that the ministry had issued notices to residents to clear the drains around their houses and business premises in order to avert flooding. (NAN)

Nasarawa Govt tasks residents on clean environment

February 28, 2022

The Nasarawa State Government has urged residents to always keep their environment clean to enhance healthy living and for the overall development of the state.

Mr Yakubu Kwanta, the state Commissioner for Environment, made the call during a sensitisation visit to the chairman and management staff of Karu Local Government Council on Wednesday.

Kwanta said that a healthy nation was a wealthy nation, hence the need for residents to always keep their surroundings clean.

He said that the visit was to appraise sanitation in the local government and discuss strategies for its effectiveness, considering the daily influx of people to the area.

“I want to use this medium to call on the residents of the state to keep their environment clean in their interest and for the overall development of the state,” he said.

The commissioner threatened to deal with offenders of the monthly exercise to serve as deterrent to others.

He however said that the government under the stewardship of Gov. Abdullahi Sule has approved a monthly support fund for every local government to strengthen sanitation for positive result.

He solicited the support of the media, civil society organisations, traditional councils and trade unions on the need to sensitise people to ensure the success of the exercise.

Kwanta noted that Karu was a hub and gateway to Nasarawa state which required government and all stakeholders’ attention to create enabling environment for people to live, work and invest.

He, therefore, said that all hands must be on deck to ensure clean environment for healthy living.

The commissioner further restated the state government determination to key into good policies and programmes that would promote environmental cleanliness in the state.

Earlier, the council Chairman, Mr James Thomas, commended the commissioner for the visit and expressed readiness to support and ensure the success of the exercise.

Thomas said that the stakeholders have already deliberated ways to enforce strict compliance during the forthcoming environmental sanitation in Karu and environs.

He also urged the people to cooperate with the government for the overall development of the area. (NAN)

Nasarawa govt apprehends 211 persons for violating sanitation law

The offenders were arrested across the state’s 13 LGAs for transacting their private businesses during the sanitation exercise.

NEWS AGENCY OF NIGERIA • APRIL 23, 2022

The Nasarawa Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources on Saturday arrested 211 persons for violating environmental sanitation laws of the state.

Abubakar Mohammed, Chief Prosecuting Officer of the ministry, made the disclosure to journalists in Lafia after the April sanitation exercise in the state.

He said the offenders were arrested across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state for transacting their private businesses during the sanitation exercise.

Mr Mohammed said that the offences violated the provisions of Section 9 (2) of the State Environmental Sanitation Law.

He said the offenders were prosecuted by various Mobile Courts across the state to serve as a deterrent to others.

Speaking about the level of compliance, the chief prosecutor put it 90 per cent and lauded residents of the state for their commitment to the exercise.

He said that Yakubu Kwanta, Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, led a team to Akwanga LGA to ensure compliance in the area.

“We only allowed those with permission from relevant authorities and those on essential services to pass, and move around during the exercise,” he added.

He noted that they have strengthened the capacity of the inspectors, and deployed them to rural areas for house-to-house inspection to enhance efficiency.

He called on members of the public to always keep their environment clean to guard against outbreaks of diseases.

“Residents should cooperate more with the government towards ensuring that the slate is clean in their best interest.

“If the environment is kept clean, it will guard against a possible outbreak of any disease, thereby ensuring improved healthy living of the people,” he added.

He said that with coming of the rainy season, the ministry had issued notices to residents to clear drainages around their houses and business premises in order to avert flooding.

Mr Mohammed said failure to do so, owners of such houses or business would be liable to a fine of N10,000 according to the state environmental sanitation law.

It seems Peter Obi already infested Okupe with the disease of lies because how can a man just lie on national TV that Nassarawa governor was the reason for the labor party low turnout?

If anything at all, they should even commend the governor for not allowing their shame to show too much because normally if they had use the stadium, it would have been worse judging from the fact that only few people came to the campaign.

So somehow Doyin Okupe is a Lair or he is claiming ignorance or the low turn out was due to another factor not because of the environmental sanitation that has been in existence some years back.

Those guys know their followers are zombie they believe any lies so they just sell numerous lamba daily to them.

They must blame their fall on someone which explained why they have excuses for all their failure.

Before Tinubu released his manifesto, they have been shouting that Tinubu does not have manifesto, only for him to release it and Peter Obi to go on live TV to say manifesto is useless and he does not need it.

Fast forward few days later, he released the manifesto only for him to say it’s a draft and that it should be recalled. I’ve never seen that kind of confusion before.

The Governor can decided to refuse to give the stadium to be used, but he cannot stop Peter Obi from winning 90% of Nasarawa Votes. Middle Belt is for Peter Obi
