This government is behaving according to the tenets of boko haram, it is as if they have a grudge against higher education. When all the needs and wants of ASUU can be looted by one politician alone but cannot be legitimately paid for the progress of the nation such a shame.

Any student that will vote for APC next year, will be unfortunate in life.
Including his or her academics
Your curse multiply by the number of likes will automatically be redirected to you and your children as God liveth.
You have 1 vote and you have no right over the 1 vote of another Nigerian.
The students did nothing wrong, you choose to go on strike to frustrate them and now that your madness backfired, you are still playing God over the students with curses that has turned back to destroy you.
You were happy collecting money from politicians as returning officers working for inec as lecturers during election and now that karma is back to punish you and your family with no work no pay, the innocent students are who your useless mouth want to curse?.
Note that your careless action on this platform has backfired in multiple folds and it is irreversible up till your 4th generation.
This should teach you a lesson you will never forget in a hurry

It is you that will be unfortunate. I know member of ASUU that establish private school which refuse to pay his teacher their salary because he was absent in his school for one day and yet he wants to collect money for 8 months in which he did not work for. ASUU pride is too much. You can not eat your cake and have it. What of students that they wasted their time, house rent etc for 8 months. ASUU wings need to be clip and that is what minister his doing.

This is very petty and uncalled for.
They are creating an unhealthy division in an already ailing tertiary institution.

As usual.. It’s the students who are children of the masses that will suffer.
see bro, from what FG is doing, ASUU at this level must be wise if they must remain ASUU.
The FG have resolved to a political, divide and rule tactics to kill ASUU. That's the aim nothing more.
It would favour only FG and the students.

ASUU would start losing its members to her sister union, the remaining ASUU members might likely be sacked or dealt with.

See, if you go through the constitution of Nigeria. You will understand that the Federal Government poses absolute power.

If ASUU goes to court they will lose again.
And FG is bent on destroying ASUU.

Last last.... There won't be strikes again for a very long time ahead.

This current ASUU leadership over shot their boundaries and lost sympathy amongst Nigerians. FG is capitalizing on it now.

FG should find a way forward rather than going backward. Sometimes you let somethings slide for the sake of peace. Even if paying all the 8months is not feasible, why not 4months or rather a full October salary instead of the half salary paid. FG grandstanding and not wanting to cede any ground to ASUU is a call to stalemate. And As for leaving everything to be decided by Ngige is not a good decision, Ngige has never been known to be pro- union at any time if I'm correct, but rather always on the side of the FG.
Bro, are you aware of the powers vested on the Federal Government of Nigeria by the constitution of this country?

ASUU is not a match for the Federal Government of Nigeria.

No court in Nigeria can rule that ASUU should continue with their strike. See ASUU have been boxed up completely. This is because the current leadership of ASUU over shut their boundaries and lost the support and sympathy of Nigerians. FG is bent on destroying ASUU, to make matters worse for ASUU, ASUU can not go to court to ask for the 8 months salary because no pay no work has a legal binding.

No court in Nigeria can rule that ASUU be paid their 8 months salary, because they did not work for it.

ASUU will start losing its members to their sister union. Just watch and see.....

9jatriot:
What many people do not realize is that ASUU actually started their strike in 2020, then the government warn them of the no work no pay rule. FG had already began to implement the no work no pay rule, then COVID struck, and there was lock down, and FG had to pay all its staff (civil servants) their salary even though they could not go to work during that period.

So, during the COVID/strike, all ASUU members had to do was wait till the end of the month, go the bank on a day they were working (many of them were working half day), collect their salary and then wait for the next month. Free money.

Finally, COVID reduced and life was gradually returning to normal, then ASUU begin to release lyrics that they were planning to continue their 2020 strike
. So, February, 2022 they began their strike again. They notified the government that they were downing tools and that the strike was total (meaning, no research, no marking of script, no lecturing, no attendance). Once again, they were reminded that labor laws transfers payment of salaries during such strikes from the employers to the union. That meant that since members have been paying dues to ASUU, now was the time for ASUU to replicate and start paying their members while negotiations went on. ASUU went on with that understanding but believed as they usually do that they will have their way.

To cut all the long story short, ASUU refused to pay her members during the strike and as such many lecturers have been left completely broke, whereas ASUU leaders are the only ones who get paid by the union.
What many people do not know is that, when ASUU say they are holding congresses to discuss whether or not to go on strike, it is only a handful of members who make that decision and not the generality of members.

Finally, ASUU called off their strike sometime in October of 2022, so FG has now resumed payment of their salary from the day they started work. So, forget that story that ASUU was paid half salary, instead government only resumed paying them as soon as they started working again. The implication of this if it is applied to the letter is that ASUU which has been collecting dues from her members, now owes them a salary of 8 and a half months.

The benefit of this arrangement are as follows:
1. Parent/students, FG and ASUU, everybody now loses. In the previous arrangement where they get paid for going on strike. Parent/students lose in terms of time, house rent, some even lose their sponsors. FG loses in terms of public opinion and goodwill as well as pay for no work done whereas ASUU was the only one that does not lose since they collect money for no work. Now, all parties lose.
2. If ASUU had succeeded with this strike, just know that there would have been more strikes loading, but right now many unions are very cautious
3. FG will now be obligated to try and be in the good books of the masses and will try to invest more in education but it won't be because of blackmail. Investment in education will now be more wholistic and cater also for primary and secondary, rather than ASUU wanting to corner everything all the time.

Hopefully, all parties would have learned their lessons

Point of correction, ASUU went on strike in 2020 because of their refusal to register into IPPIS.

The ASUU members who registered and even those who later went to register into IPPIS were all being paid during the 2020 ASUU strike.

Obviously, you are not aware that FG has now completely defeated ASUU when it comes to strike.

That no work no pay strategy is really a huge game changer.

ASUU can no longer just wake up and call for strike the way they have been doing before.

If ASUU now wants to go on strike, they will also have to make arrangements on how to pay their members during the strike because it is now clear that the government will no longer pay them for going on strike.

You must be a civil servant to make such statement, cos they're the only ones I've come across supporting ASUU.
Everyone knows ASUU has been a problem to students' education. Delaying the future of the students who would have graduated and started pursing their dreams. Destroying the knowledge of the students, because when you're not constantly learning, there's tendency to forget. Wasting students house rent that would have been utilized if learning was on going. Who's going to pay for all these damages?
I'm not trying to say unions shouldn't go on strike at all, unions do go on strike, but none is like ASUU. This has become a perpetual activity and the government needs to put an end to it.

Note: They're not fighting for the betterment of the institutions but for their selfish interest.

I pray the next government follows suit.

Tinubu is not as old as America Biden and even majority of the world leaders. These countries are not fools like u IPOBians. More so, someone with health challenges can't be doing the works Tinubu exposes himself into on a daily basis. Even you that u feel u are young don't have his energy. I swear. All those lines are propaganda and I know opposition has nothing to campaign against him with, other than those unsubstantiated and boring choruses. Disqualify him on the basis of his intellect and capacity to provide solutions to myriads of problems facing the country. His age and health will not solve our problems, his brain will. Experience is the name of the game. Tinubu is the brain child of the new Lagos, not bcs it was one former capital. Lagos was a shadow of itself before 1999. The state is not yet there but their is clear cut direction. This is a pure purposeful leadership lacking in most of our politicians. Tinubu is a rare breed. No politician in Nigeria presently has his pedigree. It takes even almighty Buhari to run to him to oust a sitting president and ruling party. Atiku comes close but for the fact that North is finishing 8 years, he should go and sit down. For Peter Obi, he doesn't have the capacity to solve Nigeria's problems as presently constituted. His antecedent as small Anambra former governor for 8 years is a testament. You can't give what u don't have. His mates are Yahaya Bello, Samuel Ortum, Ayo Fayose, Godwin Obaseki, Okowa etc. Tinubu no be im mate. He himself knows this. Nobody can package a comfirmed failure like Jonathan again. Tufiakwa
