*NOLLYWOOD ENDORSE, HONOUR TINUBU, UJU OHANENYE WITH TRADITIONAL TITLES.*

*The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Barr. Mrs Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, The Vice Chairman, South East, APC Presidential Campaign Council and former APC Presidential Primary Election Aspirant were among the prominent Nigerians honoured with traditional titles at 10th Anniversary and 2022 Nollywood New Yam Festival and Awards.*



*Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was honoured with the traditional title of "Okaa Omee" while Barr. Mrs Uju Kennedy Ohanenye was Honoured with the traditional title of "Nwanyi Ka ibe ya" for her people oriented empowerment Initiatives and consistent support to the movie industry in Nigeria.*



The President, Actors Guild of Nigeria declared that Nollywood stands with Barr. Uju Kennedy Ohanenye and her Presidential Candidate and will continue to identify with her as a result of her support to the movie industry.


Other distinguished Nigerians who graced the occasion include Former Senate President, Sen. Ken Nnamani, Apga Presidential Campaign Prof. Peter Umeadi, the daughter of the APC Presidential Candidate Iyaloja General of Federation, Chief Mrs Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, who received the award on behalf of her father, Traditional Rulers from Igbo, Hausa and Yuroba ethnicity.



Emeka Rollas, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) President, said the event is to celebrate the heroics of Nollywood in promoting the country’s cultural heritage.



“Yam is the king of crops, Yam is adored and celebrated in across cultures and ethnicity in Nigeria, It is believed that when you do not celebrate the harvest of yam in a year, that the next year’s harvest may not be fruitful,” he said.



Thus, it is very imperative as Nollywood has become the most important export of Nigeria as far as culture is concern.



“That is why every year, we gather here in the celebration of the yam as a symbol of unity for Nigeria and for the Igbo man.”


The annual event, which showcases Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, was organised by Onwurah Ifeanyi, former chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abuja chapter.


“This is a festival that Nollywood stakeholders put in place to always remind them of their roots and culture,” Ifeanyi said.


“We are using this festival to be a pointer to other African cultures. You can see people dress in Edo, Calabar, Yoruba, Hausa and other attire to attend. So that is the pointer.


"In the time past, we were forgetting our roots, but now we are trying to see what we can do every year to bring people back.


“Aside the celebration, we are awarding a lot of people. The award became necessary because, so many people has helped Nollywood and humanity.”


The Awardees expressed their gratitude to the Nigeria Movie Makers for honouring them with the distinguished Chieftaincy titles.
