As if the insecurity is not high enough, they want to release more criminals into the society. Just last month, a man was released from jail and went on to rape a little girl to death. I hope this is not the kind of news well be seeing following this event.

Damn!

More reason why, we all should be on guard and be observant.

An attempt to free Boko Haram foot solders. Hope innocents detained without trials will benefit.

The move by the Minister of Interior to decongest the prisons is commendable as a lot of inmates are awaiting trial and may actually be innocent of their alleged crimes.

However, there is need to prosecute and expedite judgement on murderers, cultists, kidnappers and terrorists who have been found guilty of killing someone or groups of people. Such people need to be exterminated and permanently removed from society to serve as a deterrent to future offenders.

I am aware that a lot of governors are reluctant to sign the death penalty.
This is a gross violation of the oath they took upon assuming office and one of the reasons why our prisons are overcrowded.

Please and please, all killers found guilty of their heinous crimes (Revd. King, Clifford Orji, Evans etc.) should not be pardoned or released back into society. If not, we should expect an escalation of violence in the society in the coming months and years ahead.

He who kills by the sword should die by the sword.
This is clearly written in the holy Quran and Bible.

The terrorists are the main people targeted for release.

I say it again: this is long over due. Lots of innocent souls have been imprisoned unjustly and most of them have turned to something else in prison.
Cases that are supposed to be settled at police stations are taken to courts and accused being remanded and forgotten in prisons.

1. Many of them are innocent.

2. Many are guilty, but they're still awaiting trial and have served more than the required jail time for the crimes they've committed.

3. The last but not the least, they're releasing their comrades for election.

You are right, up to your second point. But the third point May not be true. Lots of the prisoners don’t have voter’s cards EXCEPT if politicians will allow then use tiger people’s cards.

Many years ago, police used to raid streets and pack innocent people to station and from there to customary courts and from courts to remands. Lots of police officers for promotions through this practices because they were able to get more convictions.

I know of a brother who came back from work late in the night and was looking for bread to buy but was raided by police and he landed in prison. Same thing sone one was at aboki suya spot late in the night gisting with Aboki and the two of them were packed away by police and they ended up in remand because nobody could stand for them in court.

Good! They should start from those they wrongly accused and jailed especially those IPOB agitators they termed terrorists or UGM.

I am not. It’s never constitutional. Which polling unit will they vote on election date? Who would take prisoners to polling booths? Have we ever seen any politicians going to prisons to campaign for votes?

Once someone is a prisoner, he or she looses the right to vote or be voted for.

You made valid points.

Lemme investigate more and I'll mention you with facts.

Bubu's administration is winding down and the fastest way to twmporarily reduce the level of insecurity is to release BH operators currently in prisons across the country.
