Meta Platforms Inc, the parent entity of social media platform Facebook, has sacked over 11,000 employees and is set to extend the freeze it has imposed on new hiring. This is 13 percent of the company’s workforce.

"I want to take accountability for these decisions and for how we got here. I know this is tough for everyone, and I’m especially sorry to those impacted," Meta chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg said.

It happens!

During COVID-19 many companies hired more than what was needed..

We must also take note that not all those who where fired were developers or programmers.

They could be from other field or handling other things Totally different from programming or Coding

Just because stock market and revenue is Down. Layoffs seem to be bad for employees.
Meta should focus more on features on their app and make it more addictive than focusing on the metaverse which will become popular 2050

That metaverse thing is really costing Zuck.

It's better to invest in now than a future that is not predictable.

Facebook used to be the bomb then but it more or less useless especially to the youths and young adults. It's not appealing at all.

I heard they still are very relevant in some other parts of the world tho.
