Do we really need fact check on Soludo's statement?
Who else should know more about Obi's performance and records in office than his brother/successor,an erudite professor of economics with higher intellect & capacity.

Even Obi himself can't disprove the fact of the matter as he was made to be humbled by Soludo's statement of fact.

I reteirate that Obi is a packaged scam and sham that shouldn't be given an opportunity to govern a complex country like nigeria with hydra-headed challenges in our desperate quest for a 'New Nigeria'.
Nigeria is beyond Obi's capacity, competence and scope in all ramifications.
Obi is your next president. If you can't bear that go and die before 2023

Mynd44:
Former Central Bank Of Nigeria and Present Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo in an article titled "History beckons and I will not be silent " wrote about the poverty level of Anambra state from 2006 to 2010 while the present Presidential Candidate of the Labor Party, Peter Obi was in his first term as governor of Anambra state.

In an article which many described as either very needless as they claimed Charles Soludo is merely bitter and angry, others praised it as they said it brought into public light numerous false misconceptions by Peter Obi's supporters.

Either way, his comment on the statistics of the poverty level in Anambra, got tongues wagging and fingers typing (mine included) and a lot of people have said the former CBN governor simply lied (but did he?)

Claim: Charles Soludo wrote that "…poverty in Anambra actually grew (from less than 25% in 2005) to about 53% under Peter Obi in 2010/2011 but fell under Willie Obiano to 14.78% in 2020. Yes, poverty more than doubled under Peter Obi and more than 50% of Ndi Anambra were in poverty under him. Go and verify"

This isn't all as he had wrote something similar in 2015 in an article titled "Buhari vs Jonathan: Beyond the Election" where he wrote that "According to the National Bureau of Statistics, poverty rose under his watch in Anambra from 20% in 2004 (lowest in Nigeria then) to 68% in 2010 (a 238% deterioration!)."

These two quotes seem similar but can also be be different as the numbers dont match but if we look closely, in the 2022 letter, he mentioned 2010/2011 which was mostly measured in 2011 and in the 2015 letter, he was specific about the year 2010.

Verification: According to a press briefing By then Statistician General of the federation and lead of the National Bureau of Statistics, Yemi Kale in a press briefing titled "Press Briefing By The Statistician-General Of The Federation/Chief Executive
Officer, National Bureau Of Statictics Dr. Yemi Kale" delivered in February 2012.

Now since the NBS does not release poverty levels per years, we can only judge with the 2010 report

It is seen that the poverty level of Anambra state as at 2010 was at 68% (see image below) which matches the value quoted by Professor Charles Soludo in his 2015 article.

Verdict: The statement by the Anambra state governor, Professor Soludo claiming that the poverty level in Anambra while Peter Obi was governor rose to 68% in 2010 and 53% in 2010/2011 can be said to be true and not an exaggeration.

Also notable is that when Peter Obi responded to Professor Soludo in 2015, he did not refute the poverty percentage.
Under Peter Obi, Dr. Magnus Kpakol of NAPEP said Anambra was the No 1 in terms of reduction in poverty in the federation.

This is all utter rubbish.

If Soludo maintains that Anambra people became poorer under Peter Obi's watch, it is also an indictment of his service under the federal government

He was an economic adviser to the president and later served as the central bank governor from 2004-2009 and was rightly booted out afterwards.

His arrogance is troubling. There is no way a state's progress can be entirely divorced from the growth of the national economy. Therefore ,if Anambra experienced a growth in poverty under Peter Obi, that means the economy faired poorly and the statistics wrong.

The PDP years were golden compared to atrocious economic performance under Buhari. Buhari, and not APC, destroyed the economy. The buck stops at his door.

The economy under PDP from 1999-2013 grew at the average of 6% annually leading to a doubling of GDP within those years. .

If it's true that levels of poverty doubled under Peter Obi from 2006-2014, that means the country's GDP must have tumbled as well. Charles Soludo was a prominent face of that government. That simply means all the gains under his watch were am outright lie.

With pure analysis and logic is quite possible that may have been the case. While a lot of people are attesting the PDP administration was more fairer than the present, it is also logical to assume they did their duties in disbursement of allocations to various states as seen fit. The issue is that Obi has the tools to have lifted his state out of a poverty but chooses to withheld the resources and even went as far as instigating if some civil servants doesn't like what he is paying them they should quit the job. Anambra is not a big project but Nigeria is, you cant run an authoritarian government federally it won't work, the country will collapse. Do you have an idea what a billion naira can do? At least if not anything 250 mini one bedroom apartments for few fresh graduates on loans and young civil servants alone. Nurses, Transporters, and civil abled citizens. This is why people see Tinubu as a provider because he did make sure this things are available. Everything isn't about savings savings savings sometimes innovation and forward thinking helps more than anything. This where he is short changed. A billion naira in Palm oil products and factories today will be the worth something for unskilled workers, Agric Science graduates, exporters to name a few and that ls means of employment. Let alone Rubber and coal which he has in abundance. Abeg jare, the man no correct. Praise and raise him as you want. Him no be correct man. Besides to his cohorts and their hotel and drinking businesses and ventures, he is only a glorified businessman man who got rich through association. Simple as that

Leave it here for more ridicule?

When El-Rufai analysed Anambra with facts and figures and said that Peter Obi made Anambra a poor state. Obi started foaming at the mouth and started Insulting El-Rufai and called it an attack on IGBO race. Obi further called his iigbo9brothers to attack El-Rufai.

Anambra is a poor state curtsey of Peter Obi.

The Igbo leaders must seize this chance because nobody knows when the support for the Igbo president and Peter Obi shall come back; it might take 30 years.

When it suited him, Soludo told lies, but this is the reality.
