“The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but at the end, there it stands” Winston Churchill (paraphrased).

I had expected that the dreaded Obi-dient internet mob would have dissected the issues raised in Prof. Soludo’s compelling submission by providing issue-based superior arguments to the salient points raised in the debate, at least for the advancement of a healthy intellectual discourse. But I have scoured my Facebook feed and still cannot find any intellectual, issue-based rejoinder to his piece. I have only read packets of disjointed verbiage and infantile balderdash crafted for nothing but emotional blackmail, an avalanche of curses, invectives, threats and have disappointedly noted the triumph of brazen ribaldry over healthy debate and an incurable intolerance to divergent views.

In the last six months, the likes of Senators Uche Ekwunife and Ike Ekweremadu, Chimaraoke Nnamani, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, Governors Hope Uzodinma, David Umahi, Pastor Poju Oyemade, Adeyanju Deji , Fr. Ejike Mbaka, Arch Bishop Chukwuma and any other person who has dared to cast aspersion on the person of Mr. Peter Obi or who even attempted to suggest that Peter Obi cannot win the presidential election by available statistics have received brutal social media lynching by the Obi-dient mob. A group that has since gained notoriety for verbal attacks and intolerance to dissenting opinions.

This ugly trajectory, asides mirroring the dearth of intellectualism in our politics and our society by extension, reveals obnoxious hypocrisy and reeks of typical IPOB-esque behaviour and remains antithetical to democratic ethos.

Presidential candidates everywhere in the world are interrogated, their character questioned and their records and “chances” x-rayed by the populace. Obi-dients are thus free to say that Omoyele Sowore cannot win the presidential election but would not take same from anyone. They are free to question and ridicule the character of presidential candidates of other parties but no one is permitted to demystify their sacred candidate.

Furthermore, factions of social cultural groups like Afenifere, the Northern Elders Forum and individuals from other geopolitical zones are free to endorse the candidate of the Labour party but southeast politicians who are not “obedient” to delusion are saboteurs and should cower and say nothing. Miraculous hypocrisy.

As much as people loathe this truth, albeit, it has to be said without minding whose ox is gored. It takes strategies, tact and alliances. Negotiations are the core necessities for successful politics in a country like Nigeria. Not zest, not untamed emotions, social media thuggery and brazen almajiri-ism. Not chest thumping, empty delusional rhetoric of victory in online polls translating into victory in reality. Those who understand these rules and play by them will continue to govern those propelled by only zeal and emotions.

Something died in southeast politics. Our blatant refusal to learn the politics of a multicultural, multiethnic and multi-religious society has cost us dearly and could continue to do so if not reversed. We cannot continue in this vicious cycle: we become apolitical after every general election and only pick up interest once again as the election season draws near. This means that we go into every election with no strategy, no plan B, no regional alliances, little trust from fellow countrymen and with our garments stained by separatist agitations. This is definitely not the road to the Aso Villa.

Those who wish to hurl curses at Charles Chukwuma Soludo, can continue but after the elections have been won and lost in February, we will in sober reflections read Prof. Soludo’s epistle again.

We will agree with Churchill that the truth is incontrovertible.

Well written.....

After February those from other tribes urging Peter Obi on will retreat to their ethnic enclaves to enjoy the spoils of war while we Igbos will lick our wounds and become an example of " people wey no know politics" by street side political analysts..

The hypocrisy is damn too much

same Obidient crass idiots here will tell you that voting Atiku is a vote for Fulanis but will turn round and demand that in all fairness (whatever that means), it is time for an Igbo presidency and that we should shun ethno religious sentiments and vote their Obi because he is the "best".

You just can't replicate such double speak even in Communist North Korea.

OP,

Your write-up is a therapy, your own therapy. I hope you feel better now that you have taken time to air your emotional burden.

The great thing about the discombobulations from mostly career politicians from the entire country including diatribes from SE power brokers is that Peter Obi now knows the state of mind of his people and realizes that the rest of the other tribes love him more than his own people (if the governors represent their people). I have not seen a single SE Governor supporting Obi. In fact, I see them attacking their own brother and that speaks volume, not of Obi's arrogance, or bad behavior, but because he is what an average Igbo man is not.

Given the self-aggrandizement of Igbos when they have some money, Obi is quite civil.

But those are by the side - of all the Candidates running for the Presidency, with a probabilistic possibility of winning (Atiku, Obi and Tinubu);

Educationally, Obi is the most educated, and the most intelligent.

Global Reach: Obi is the most connected with the global class.

Personal Lifestyle: Obi is a minimalist and humble

Philanthropy: Obi has been visiting people faced with ecological disasters, funding orphanages and schools.

The list is endless, - OP have you seen Obi's Resume and juxtapose it with that of Atiku and Tinubu?

The OBIDIENTS are Nigerians, not mob as you call them, they are actually the most intelligent but are not ready to conform anymore, that is why they attack dissent views and I encourage them to continue to attack these opposition who see nothing wrong in tribalism and nepotism.

If you are not OBIDIENT you stand for nothing. If you respond back to me with personal attacks and fallacies, you will understand what OBIDIENTS are made of.

Soludo was a former CBN Governor under PDP... he has his roots there

his verbal attacks on Obi at this particular time shouldn't surprise anyone.

Soludo is singing, we know the people beating the drums for him

nothing to see here..

sanusideunifier:
Accord to Soludo's theory the best way to play politics in Nigeria is to be totally tribal like Tinubu so we all sing emi lo kan and follow a walking corpse.
According to Soludo's theory, Obi deserves to die for seeking a platform in Labour Party instead of APGA.
According to Soludo's theory, Igbos must follow a defined political pattern of behavior, behave in a particular way to be president or seen as Nigerians. I now understand the most foolish among Nigerians are those prefixed with unmerited 'Prof' like the overrated fool.
According to Soludo, you must attack Igbo as a region to be taken seriously by the rest of Nigerians. Soludo's anger is that a new Nigeria grows from his brother but not from him and has sworn to pull him down. He can't attack Tinubu or Atiku, no, he must attack Obi to be relevant.

Soludo has it wrong
That is the problem, is that once we let tinubu have his way in this election, it is officially in written in stone in Nigeria that tribal and regional politics is the way to become president. We all have to fight this Evil APC party as truly the soul of this country is being fought for.

But the biggest take away from Soludos Rant is this. Obi has clearly said anyone with Proof of Misappropriation of funds by him should come out and he will stop campaigning...Soludo claims to have privileged information as the current Governor, is willing to come up with smear poverty claims and nothing about stealing. That means Obi after 8 years truly didnt steal anything, means he is one of the most unique politicians in the entire Subsaharan African continent. We have to Fight for this man.

Also know that poverty statistics can rearranged to make the any target actually look poor or rich the Media in the western world are always using these figures as tools to mock or emasculate any entity they so wish to.

There something I never could understand about those who say that Obi, or any Igbo man for that matter, can never be President due to the insulting nature of Igbos

Hmmmmmmmm...........

These same Nigerians are the people who elected and re-elected the current President despite herdsmen from his tribe killing people all across Nigeria

But they want us to believe that insult and online attacks are their problem? grin grin

There is no issues raised by Soludu. He said he was going to answer the question about Obi's legacy in government as Anambra governor. He ended up advising the Igbos to leave Obi and choose another candidate.

Who does that except and envious enemy?

Truth is what issue did soludo raise other than his fears that obi can't win ?

What other issues is there ? Obi listed his investments and the submiller shares went from 50 naira to 5 naira ...

But same company employs 10,000 Anambrians , same company gives the state 10% of profits ...

That's of just one of the investments obi made

Point is what exactly did soludo say ..what points did he raise ?

Did he accuse obi of corruption ?
Did he accuse obi of stealing funds ?

But those are by the side - of all the Candidates running for the Presidency, with a probabilistic possibility of winning (Atiku, Obi and Tinubu);

The list is endless, - OP have you seen Obi's Resume and juxtapose it with that of Atiku and Tinubu?

yes! A good example is the 78 Anambara youths killed by Peter Obi administration.

Soludo was a former CBN Governor under PDP... he has his roots there

his verbal attacks on Obi at this particular time shouldn't surprise anyone.

Soludo is singing, we know the people beating the drums for him

nothing to see here..
the same Obi left PDP yesterday. What do you have to say?

SReporters:

I wasted my time reading a long post without any point.
You said that soludo raised some points
But you can't point out any
Instead you continue to disparage obidients
Soludo letter is Hate filled with No point raised.

But they want us to believe that insult and online attacks are their problem? grin grin
don't forget that there is no evidence to prove your allegation. The governors of the south east said that all those criminals arrested are igbos,so why trying to blame fulani?
Atleast the northerners are in the frontline criticizing Buhari. But the igbos don't criticized their leaders, ikpeazu only gave his people 2 liters of kerosene and he was elected 2 times.
Now in the east nobody is allowed to criticize Peter Obi, criticizing Obi in Igbo land is like committing suicide.
