I am using this as a list to track the list of grievances against the nigerian system. Essentially a list of cases where the excessively centralized nigerian system is holding back progress in nigeria.

Railways: The Nigerian Railway Act forbids private individuals and companies from operating any form of rail transport and vests all control in the hands of the Nigerian Railways Authority, a moribund, corrupt and generally under-performing authority.

Football: The nigerian Football Association is essentially an appendage of the nigerian Government. Football is not allowed to flourish on its own and is riven with the same gross corruption and favouritism inherent in our current system.
I firmly believe a NFA run solely by private club owners will have a hard time justifying a team delegation of 100+ officials to visit a worldcup event. In fact they wont fund such waste and they will definitely recruit the best coach their money can buy. Not people selecting coaches based on their political abilities or corrupt selfish reasons.

Lagos state is building a form of rail transport, so your assertion the FG has an exclusive right to that purvey is wrong.

Can you confirm that they did not seek approval from the NRA? If you can prove to me that any individual with the finances can set up a rail company, then I will delete it.

rail systems require huge capital outlays, an attempt by private individuals to operate rail systems would lead to wanton wastage, would each individual build his/her own rail track? Will the govt allocate vast lands in and out of the cities and hinterland to people who want to own their own rails?

It is precisely because they require huge capital outlays that we wont see everyone building theirs.

It will not result in wanton wastage because no bank will loan you money to build a parallel track between two destinations where there's already one or where it wont be profitable.

The market itself will not allow it.
