Adam Sandler was born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 9, 1966. His parents are Judith “Judy,” a nursery school teacher, and Stanley Sandler, an electrical engineer.

Both sides of his family are Jewish, and they are all derived from Russian-Jewish immigrants. Sandler was six years old when his family relocated to Manchester, New Hampshire, where he grew up.

He attended Manchester Central High School. Sandler, then in his teens, joined BBYO, a Jewish youth group. He graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1988.
