It does so long as time and chance are on your side.

Only that when your time is up, the value of your achievements drop back down to zero as it is all meaningless to the dead you. And if chance is no longer on your side, all your hard work put in to achieve a certain thing may all amount to nothing even while you live. And these things happen to everyone.

Being at the:

Right place but at the wrong time.
Wrong place but at the right time.
