DELGA Sheriff Attends Opobo/Nkoro PDP Campaign Flag-off

The Sheriff of Degema Local Government Area and Mayor of Kalabari, Hon. Michael John Williams, Saturday, attended the Campaign Flag-off of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Opobo/Nkoro LGA chapter.

The party also used the occasion to hold a special Thanksgiving service at the St. Paul's Church, Opobo Town, where prayers were offered for the party's governorship candidate, Amaopusenibo Sir Siminialayi Fubara, as well as other candidates of the PDP in the forthcoming 2023 general elections in Rivers State.

In his address, the host Chairman, Hon. Enyiada Cookey-Gam expressed gratitude to God for granting Opobo/Nkoro the rare privilege of producing the governorship candidate of the PDP in the State, adding that the people of the LGA would work with other Rivers people to actualize the ambition.

Chairman of Port Harcourt City LGA, Hon. Allwell Ihunda, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, charged the people of Opobo/Nkoro LGA to obtain their Permanent Voters' Cards (PVCs), in order to vote massively for Sim Fubara, noting that; "God has brought power to Opobo."

Sir Ihunda, who is also Chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Rivers State chapter, noted that the 23 LGA chairmen were committed to Simplify the State, expressing confidence in the ability of Sir Siminialayi Fubara to consolidate on the many achievements of the Governor Nyesom Wike administration.

Speaking on the sideline of the event, the DELGA Sheriff, Hon. Michael John Williams, stated that the large turnout of people at the occasion was a clear indication of the popularity and wide acceptability of the Rivers PDP Governorship Candidate.

He opined that the PDP would record a landslide victory across the State in the 2023 elections, on the strength of the achievements of the party over the years, as according to him, the elections would be about presentation of verifiable scorecards to the electorates and not gimmicks and propaganda.

Guests were entertained by traditional performances from different cultural troupe, while highpoint of the event was reception of defectors from different political parties to the PDP.

The event was attended by dignitaries and stalwarts of the PDP across the State as well as Chairmen of some LGAs, including Hon. Michael John Williams; Degema, Hon. Allwell Ihunda; Port Harcourt City, Hon. Akuro Tobin; Okrika, Hon. Thomas Bariere; Khana and Hon. Mbakpone Okpe; Tai.
