OYETOLA ISSUED OVER N10 BILLION NAIRA CHEQUES, TRIGGERING FREEZING OF STATE ACCOUNTS
● Salary Payments Ongoing
I read with great concern, the frivolous and baseless claim being peddled about by faceless individuals and/or groups suspected to be sponsored by the outgone government and the new opposition party in the state about a withdrawal of 5bn Naira from the state accounts by Governor Ademola Adeleke despite ordering for state accounts to be frozen and questioning why November Salary have not been paid despite spending just five working days in office.
One would ordinarily laugh off such watery accusation as another futile attempt by the outgone administration and their supporters to distract the new Governor and his hardworking team from continuing to hit the ground running which have been their trade in stock for the past 7 days but for the unsuspecting public who can easily be held sway by such misguided false alarm.
It is not only laughable but unfortunate for anyone under whatever guise to claim that the new Governor had earlier withdrawn 5bn Naira from the state coffers before ordering for freezing of the state accounts when in actual fact the order to freeze the account can rightly be regarded as one of the first action taken by the new Governor and announced right at the inauguration venue, an order which still subsists till the time of writing this, so when was the withdrawal effected?
Such claim can only come from those who are deliberately trying so hard to divert the attention of the people of Osun state away from the mess associated with their years of mal-administration in the affairs of our dear state.
For the avoidance of doubts and to set the record straight as it unfolded, I have decided to remind the general public and most especially the citizens and workers of Osun State why the latest town-criers and their cronies are not comfortable with the sanitation the new Governor Ademola Adeleke is bringing to the state civil service and overall to the governance of Osun state.
The order to freeze the state accounts immediately by Governor Ademola Adeleke became necessary in light of credible reports circulating in the media that the former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola had already issued cheques on various state accounts to the tune of 10Bn, setting up an unprecedented landmines for the new government in the early days of their administration.
This among other factors necessitated the announcement by Governor Ademola Adeleke immediately setting up a review committee to ascertain the exact and correct state of the financial status of the state and also determine the correct staff strengths of the state civil service workers across the different ministries, agencies and parastatals, a development that was communicated to the Labour leaders during their visit to the Governor’s office earlier in the week where the Labour leaders gave their unwavering support and total corporation.
Despite that the committee’s review is still ongoing, Governor Ademola Adeleke on Thursday 1st December, 2022 ordered immediate submission of salary schedules by all outstanding agencies within 24hours to allow the conclusion of the processes of November salary payment while maintaining that his administration is averse to unnecessarily suffering the state workers, an order that was immediately complied with and salary payment processes has since began in earnest and ongoing.
I will like to solicit for the continuous support of the citizens and civil servants of Osun state for their agile Governor and his team while they continue to work hard in delivering quality and good governance they have clearly embarked upon."
