According to the Vice President of the
World Bank, by the end of the year in Ukraine, 8
million people will be below the poverty line, and
the poverty rate itself will increase from 2% to
25%.

The mayor of Kiev was also reported to have
told the citizens to start making plans to
migrate to other European countries and cities
because Russia has practically destroyed the
energy and transport infrastructure and in
another one or two weeks winter will be in full
swing.

Again, I ask, to what end are these people
expected to fight a war they can not win. I can
understand other Europeans or Americans who
are invested in fighting an ideological war with
Russia saying "we will continue to support them
with weapons to the very end", it is not their
cities that are being destroyed, or their people
being killed but from the perspective of an
ordinary Ukrainian, this is no help. Your home,
sources of livelihood being destroyed, kits and
kin being killed all for what, freedom to join
NATO or force a region of the country who
clearly no longer wants to be part of Ukraine?

Seeing what is happening now, I am sure if they
are given the option again to choose between a
neutral Ukraine who respects the Minsk
agreement and the current Ukraine whose
infrastructure has been wrecked by the
Russians and have lost over 100k soldiers
according to Ursula Vonderleyen and still
counting, and its people are fleeing the country
while its government has been reduced to
begging for weapons and money to sustain
itself, they will definitely choose the latter.

This also brings home the Biafra clamour, I
have always been of the opinion that if Nigeria
will continue to operate like it is doing, we are
better off on our own BUT on the condition that
it is a peaceful secession probably based on
referendum or a plebiscite not through the force
of war. War is not pleasant and should be
avoided by all means, even if the greatest
powers promise to support the cause, if there is
any opportunity for peaceful resolution and
agreement, the wise thing to do is choose it,
especially if it is a war against a foe that it is
clear to everyone is an overmatch.

All I can do is pity and pray for the ordinary
Ukrainians who are the main casualties here
