Just came across this shocker about the state of Nigeria's biggest Hydro Electric plant at Kainji Dam in Niger state.  Four out of the 12 turbines that were supposed to generate 1000MW of electricity when the Kainji Hydro Electric station was built in 1968, have still not been installed 43 years later.

I am speechless at how we continue to beat world records for incompetence in this country.    This is why I believe all utilities, refineries, and government run enterprises should be in private hands.  Any private company that exhibits such incompetence would have folded up ages ago, but with government enterprises like NITEL and PHCN nothing happens.  Instead the directors get "national awards for exemplary service to the nation".

I am not surprised.
