How Has Kainji Dam Shut Down Affected Electricity in Your Area Since Friday? by Maisuya1: 11:56am On Mar 17, 2012
I just read on this day newspaper that kainji plan has been shutdown due to lickages. The impact on power supply in minna my area has been catastrophic.

On normal days I will estimate Minna gets an AVEREAGE of 15-20hrs of electricity out of 24hrs daily. An my side of minna is even higher with about 20-23hrs of electricity daily.

BUT SINCE FRIDAY THE AVEREAGE HAS DROPED TO 0.5-1hr daily (am dead serious)

What's it like in your area.

No difference -Surulere. I run 2 generators day and night for the past 3+ weeks. I am far more reliable generating electricitynthan PHCN wink

There has been an uninterrupted power failure in my area, Ikotun, for the past two weeks and still counting. Running two generating sets 24/7.

You guys should be happy if you getting up to 2hrs of electric power supply from PHCN. Many areas in some places dont event have a transformer for the past one year while some places have a low capacity transformer that cannot meet up to consuption requirement. Rationing of light is very common here in KADUNA i.e two days "ON", Two days "OFF".
So if Kainji Dam like let it collapse for century, we are use to darkness, worst case..we will run our generators 24/7.

For Uyo here in Akwa Ibom, I don't even know where our source is coming from because the situation has been worst. They give light 1am-6am and that has been the basis for a long time now. Don't expect light during the day and since November where I stay, they have not come for their money. We don't understand anything about PHCN again here. The situation is so sad.

I'm currently in New Bussa (Kainji) in Niger state and power supply here has been unsurprisingly stable. If it had to be interrupted, it'd be back on in seconds or few minutes (no joke). Infact, light dey waste here grin

No he means the power failure has been uninterrupted i.e them never get PHCN light for 2 weeks so if PHCN supplies power to them, the power failure becomes interrupted, kapish?

It seems people who live in Satellite Town area of Lagos State are not part of this Country in terms of power supply. The area is so allergic to light.
