One sad thing is Whistleblowing isn't for everyone. To blow the whistle, you need to have sufficient power to protect yourself from the blowback.
And before you blame Nigeria, remember the case of Snowden who is now on exile for Whistleblowing in the USA
Ooh how daft you are. Snowden case was actually against America as a state, it is more like he’s working against the state, but this custom officer’s case is different as his revelation will help Nigeria as a state

Well, government was taxing people #10 for every transaction, which was unheard of. Some people supported it. Then, they increased it to #26 for every transaction. Some people still supported it. In a country where people can't save and receive savings interest because of lots of things to pay for and for some owed salaries. Yet, without anything to increase the people's earning ability, like electricity generation for instance, they are still going further to force everyone to have their money in the banking system so that they can have more money to take from people. At least having and spending cash was free and people who see the handwriting on the wall, won't trust to keep their value in the banking system where it would be eroded. But I know that those people who keep supporting this either do not see this or are part of the largesse. I laugh at the ignorant ones who say it will help fight corruption in a country where the very check systems are corrupt. No wonder everyone who knows how gullible Nigerians are wants to be a politician. I understand it now.

Key world is government classified information. Government can not be indicted until the information is declassified. Hope you understand?
Kobonaire234:

Government information that indicated the US government may have been violating the privacy of its citizens via a very illegal mass surveillance programme...which is something of a touchy thing for many US citizens (there is a reason why former US president Nixon got impeached and had to resign, and why many of his officials went to prision..attempting surveillance on Nixon's enemies...one of his officials went to prision for attempting to release private medical records, obtained illegally, about one of Nixon's critics.).

The thing about surveillance in the USA...you have to, if you are a law enforcement officer 1) get a court order 2)have reasonable cause before you place anyone under surveillance. What the NSA and the government was doing roughly amounted to mass electronic surveillance sans legal backing.

(This was something similar to what the Ministry of State Security of the old German democratic republic used to do on its citizens...and they were not as sophisticated as the USA).

That is what Snowden revealled. I am not his fan, but at the end of the day, while what he did was illegal, and he disobeyed orders (as an NSA man he should have kept his mouth shut)...he still did something similar to what customs man did...and they are both being punished for insubordination.

Say the truth and go in for it only in Nigeria.

This is to say top politicians are cashing out from the illegal business.

This will serve as a deterrent to others who might want to expose the ills in the society.

Which way Nigeria?

And key word is insubordination, which is similar to what the customs man was doing, and he is also not supposed to openly air his discomfort with orders given.

I am by no means condoning corruption or leaking of secrets...although the smuggling thing is not really a secret.

Hope you understand?

Nigeria still has a long a way to go, nobody is patriotic again.
The same Custom officers that are disturbing hustlers from smuggling goods (rice, cars, etc) into the country are the same set of people that smuggling are our own goods outside the country.
It is well...
