It is hilarious that Nigerians think traders are illiterates.

They think the fulani man who sells cattle, the igbo man who sells spare parts and the hausa man who sells suya or guinea materials is an illiterate.

Do you know that the average traders who they call ILLITERATES adapted more to government cashless policy when it started in 2012 than those who claim they are literates.

The average trader has a pos machine, uses ussd or their mobile app for business.

Go to any trader in Nigeria, they have different options for collecting payment for their goods and will willingly do business with you with any payment channels.

Traders of whatever business deal with cash and in most cases are always looking for how to do business without carrying lot of cash. No wonder they are quick to adapt to government policies because they know that they will lose business if they don't adapt

I think maybe because many traders do not speak english or do not have a university degree that is why they are called illitrates.

The fact is this, traders are not illitrates, many of them are respected members of their community, everyday they deal with numbers and are more smarter and adaptive than these so called people who called themselves literate because they can speak English.
