As celebrations of the achievements of Lionel Messi and His Argentine brothers continue around the world, we must not forget nor sweep under the carpet the realities that we were faced with. One of the greatest World Cup finals and one of the greatest matches of all time.

This write up isn’t even about that match in particular but about the entirety of the 2022 World Cup show piece as presented to us by Qatar. A magnificent show piece all through. The World Cup presented us with what this write up is about: the hypocrisy of western nations and their media, how dependence on western media is negative for the majority of the world.

Prior to kick off, all of western media was a-washed with how Qatar was a bad destination for the World Cup, how their policies were bad for humans and for for football fans (talk about lgbtq+, alcohol etc) and how ultimately this was going to be the worst World Cup ever.

At kick off, some news outlet didn’t even bother talking about the football, rather they focused on how to put Qatar in negative light. But Qatar were prepared. The atmosphere was lively, was safe and was accommodating. Fans enjoyed the fundamental reason they were in Qatar, Football.

No reports of drunken brawls were recorded unlike previous show pieces. Nothing went out of place. The tournament started beautifully and ended even more magnificently. All of these against the prophecies of naysayers from the west (many of them brainwashed, are here on Nairaland).

My question for you is this. Were you not entertained?

I think this is the best world cup I've ever experienced.
