Some people think that going cashless will stop vote buying, that is not true.

Vote buying does not only involve cash.

There are other ways which vote buying can occur.

Giving out gifts to voters like rice, garri, indomie to influnce their voting decisions.

A Politician can legitimately buys large amount of goods from a supplier and then give these goods out as a form of charity to potential voters, fact is that there is no crime in giving out charity.

A politician can set up NGOs then compile the accounts number of potential voters, after they vote, the politician send pay the person as a charity contribution.

These are just few examples of how politicians can legally influence voters even with the cashless policy by the CBN

This is possible but the logistics issues involved makes this method not very effective.

Most prefer payment before service due to the corrupt and untrustworthy nature of politicians. So this method is also possible but not very effective as well.

All in all, the goal should not be to completely eradicate vote buying, that is impossible with Nigerian politicians. The goal should be to reduce it to the barest minimum, make it more and more difficult.

You are saying the methods are very effective, you seems not to be intune with the reality on ground in Nigeria.

Logistics, someone can create a kiosk near the polling stations and give our foodstuffs to people who voted for their candidates.

Cash transactions will also happen on election day and it will be organized through legal means
