Again, PDP chieftains seek sack of Ayu, Bature over Kano crisis


Some aggrieved stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party have again called for the removal of National Chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu and National Organizing Secretary, Hon. Umar Bature over the lingering crisis in the Kano chapter of the party.

Their agitation came on the heels of a ruling of a Federal High Court in Kano which reinstated Mohammed Sani Abacha as the validly elected gubernatorial candidate of the party.

Justice Mohammed Liman on Friday recognized the gubernatorial primary conducted by the Alh. Shehu Sagagi-led faction of the party. The court ordered INEC to expunge the name of Sadik Aminu Wali, backed by the national leadership of PDP, from its list.

But reacting, Alh. Sagagi welcomed the judgement of the court, blaming the needless crisis on the mischief by the duo of Ayu and Bature.

He said Ayu was the brain behind the crisis within the ranks and file members of the party in the country.

Another party chieftain alleged that the National Organizing Secretary, Bature, has also been instrumental to division rocking the party. The source said Bature's unprincipled stance allowed the Kano problem to fester just like he did in Ogun.

"An organizing secretary of a party should be firm and fair, not kowtowing to factionalisation but that we unfortunately have with Bature," the party chieftain said. "All crises the PDP is facing ahead of the elections can be traced to the atrocities from his office.

The party leader said an urgent move must be made to see that the party's chances in next year's polls are not truncated by double-faced, self-serving and divisive elements handling sensitive roles in the party.
