Courage, inventiveness, excellence, gratitude and love dominated the month of December 2022 for Nigeria and Nigerians globally with the top positive news as follows: 1. Seplat Energy Seplat Energy Plc (“Seplat” or the “Company”), a leading Nigerian independent energy company listed on both the Nigerian Exchange Limited and the London Stock Exchange, announces that it has successfully obtained the ISO 55001:2014 Standard Asset Management System certification, becoming the first energy company in Africa to achieve this remarkable feat. 2. “Omeife” Uniccon Group has developed the first humanoid robot in Africa called “Omeife”, which was launched by the Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo in Abuja. 3. Nosakhare Igbinosa Nosakhare Igbinosa, a medical student from University of Ibadan, has emerged overall winner of the BIC Art Master Africa 2022 competition with a portrait titled ‘Bona’ winning in first place. The competition under the theme ‘Celebrating Africa’ encouraged artists to create artwork that represents their personal identity as well as their unique perceptions of the African continent and its diverse cultures using the BIC ballpoint pen. 4. Zainab Adam Zainab Adam has emerged as the Best Campus Investigative Reporter of the 2022 Alfred Opubor Next-Gen Campus Reporter Awards held in Abuja. The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) presented awards and cash prizes to outstanding student journalists in Nigerian tertiary institutions under its Campus Reporter Programme. 5. Zenith Bank Zenith Bank has emerged as The Banker Magazine 2022 Bank of the Year in Nigeria announced by The Banker Magazine, Financial Times Group, United Kingdom, during the awards ceremony held in London on 1 December, 2022. 6. Asisat Oshoala Asisat Oshoala has emerged a joint winner of the Pichichi award alongside Geyse Ferreira for finishing the 2021-2022 Spanish Primera Division Women League season as top scorers with 20 goals. 7. Team Nigeria Youth Curlers Team Nigeria Curlers have become the first African team to qualify for the 2024 Youth Winter Olympics, taking place in the Gangwon Province, South Korea. All the curlers are homebased, and they excelled qualifying for both Mixed and Mixed Doubles events. 8. Tobi Amusan Tobi Amusan has been named the 2022 Best Female Athlete in Africa by the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) on December 19, 2022. 9. Veritas University Debate Society Veritas University Debate Society has emerged winner of the 14th Africa University Debate Championship held in Nairobi, Kenya. With the victory, Veritas University Debate Society becomes the first to bring the African Debate Trophy to Nigeria. 10.
