The flatulence should not be blamed on the beans, it is the bacteria in the small intestine that carry out the job. Beans naturally contains oligosaccharide which gives it the slight sweet taste. This oligosaccharide cannot be digested by human body. So when the beans get to the small intestine where nutrients are absorbed into the body, the oligosaccharide cannot be absorbed. Therefore, the bacteria aiding digestion in the small intesting utilizes it for food and produce the 'life threatening gas' as waste product.
