HISTORY: IGBOMOKU
Igbomoku is an ancient community in Ijebuland where a uniform personnel dare not enter.
Ijebu-Ife in Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State is part of Ijebu communities inhabit, a territory that is bounded in the North by Ibadan, in the East by Ondo, Okitipupa and the West by Egbaland. The Southern fringe is open to the sea with the coastlines of Epe, Ejinrin and Ikorodu, Lagos.
There is a small community located within Ijebu Ife township called ‘IGBOMOKU’.
‘IGBOMOKU’ is indeed a small community but for those who don't know, it is a dangerous clan for the uniform personnels.
Since the inception of the town, no uniform personnel be it Police, Navy or Army dares to enter because it is a taboo! It means any FORCE Personnel or Uniform Personnel who dares to enter the boundary of the community will perish there.
History of this town has been scanty because it was ritually decreed, in earlier times of its founding, that the history of the town must not be told.
All efforts to torchlight the history were declined. But several references were made to buttress the potency of the taboo.
The clarity of the taboo is mainly the UNIFORM. Any Force personnel is free to enter the community in as much he/she is not in uniform which means the enemy of the deity of the community is UNIFORM.
