Ambassador Agency Reporter Nigeria's Ambassador to
China, Aminu Wali, says 400
Nigerians are languishing in
Chinese jails and that one of
them was executed through
lethal injection last month. Wali told Nigerian journalists
in Beijing on Thursday that a
majority of the convicts were
tried for hard drug related
offences. He added that another
Nigerian had recently had his
death sentence suspended and
could finally have it
commuted to life
imprisonment due to the intervention of the embassy. Wali said, "Something is
wrong with our value
system." According to him, the
embassy is arranging a
stakeholders' meeting with
leaders from a geo-political
zone in Nigeria where most of
the convicts come from. He lamented that the embassy
usually got to know about
this group of Nigerians only
after they had been arrested. The envoy said, "As we speak,
one of my consular officers is
on a prison visit to meet
convicted Nigerians or
suspects still undergoing trial. "This embassy was earlier
today informed of another
arrest and before the end of
the day, up to five such letters
may be received here." The ambassador said he had
been visiting Nigerian convicts
in Chinese prisons personally
on a quarterly basis to ensure
that they were fairly
comfortable by donating money towards their needs. He also said some Nigerians sell
their passports on running
into difficult times in China
and would finally remember
their embassy when arrested. . .

The last thing i will ever do is to go to a foreign land and reside, its better to hussle in 9ja than to go hussle for another mans land, wey them dey hear how their government people dey earn pass their own president for that country.

Ashamed ? for migrating to greener pastures ? That's ludicrous.
The problem is when people go abroad and want to make money in the shady ways they're used to in Nigeria. Not every society is tolerant to our type of corruption
