Today marks 57 years of the first coup detat led by a certain colonel nzeogwu chukwuma which led to the death of many political leaders. What can you say about the man Nzeogwu?

Chukwuma Patrick Kaduna Nzeogwu was an Igbo man from Okpanam in present day Delta State

He was born and raised in Kaduna, which is why his parents gave him the name "Kaduna". He attended St Johns Secondary School Kaduna as well as the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, England, where he qualified as a military officer in 1960.

He was a military instructor in January 1966 when he is said to have led the first coup in Nigerias history. The coup eventually did not succeed and Nzeogwu was imprisoned by the new Military head of state, General Ironsi

When Ojukwu declared the state of Biafra in 1967, he released Nzeogwu and promoted him to a Lt Colonel in the Biafran Army. Nzeogwu died in the early stages of the war while fighting in Nsukka

His body was recovered by the Nigerian Army, flown to Kaduna, where he was given a State Funeral
