The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said that any commercial bank that fails to pick up the new naira notes for distribution will be fined N1 million daily, IGBERETV reports.

The announcement was made by Adeleke Adelokun, a deputy director at CBN, during a sensitization programme with traders on the new Naira notes at Ayegbaju International Market in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, on Friday, January 20.

Adelokun said;

“As at today, CBN has printed enough new naira notes of N200, N500 and N1,000.

“But, what we discovered was that most of the banks that are supposed to collect the new notes have not collected them. So, we have put a sanction on the banks.

“Any bank that fails to collect the new notes from CBN will pay N1 million as sanction per box, per day and the amount they are to pay now will depend on the number of days they have not collected the notes.

“We also mandated the banks to put new naira notes in their ATMs all over Nigeria so that Nigerians will have access to the new naira notes.”

Why politicians are angry for the new Naira Note

For the first time, politicians are the only ones speaking for the same people they been Looting their Commonwealth.

It's either they bring out all the old notes they have stored Up in their GP Tanks or Underground or nothing

Ask yourself where were they when the people were crying of Hunger and deprivation over the years

The CBN have deliberately refused to print the new Notes in Bulk so the don't start stock pilling them in place of the old money in your GP tanks and underground As they did to the Old Noted

How can you print over 2Billion country's currency with less than 200 million in circulation, Because of Criminals who call themselves Leaders.

And people like you are Campaigning for a number of them to fix the same country they have Milked Dry

Make no Mistake people! Stubborn Policies as this was the very Reason you Voted Buhari the first place in 2015. Even if I can never be a fan of APC

One million naira is too small. If the money is big like 100 million naira per branch that disobey, the banks will comply quickly. It should be treated as sabotaging the FG / Treason

Good we need to go further by shutting down banks still dispensing old notes and arresting anyone caught buying or selling with the old notes.

Make sure you transferred all the old note into your account before the deadline date , better go cashless than to lose the notes.. They are really mean .... Make sure you have no old notes with you, because it gonna be useless and wasted to you sooner

ALL THESE BANKERS ARE CRIMINALS

WHAT THE BANKS DID IS THEY TOOK THE MONEY IN THEIR VAULT PLUS THE ONES CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN BRINGING IN FOR EXCHANGE THEN WENT TO CBN TO GO COLLECT NEW NOTES

CBN EXCHANGED THE OLD NOTES FOR THEM CAUSE THERE IS PAPER WORK AND RECORDS FOR ALL THE MONIES THEY BROUGHT IN

NOW WHAT THE BANKS NOW DID IS TO SELL THE NEW NAIRA NOTES THEY COLLECTED FROM CBN TO THE POLITICIANS AND KIDNAPPERS

SO NOW THEY CAN'T GO BACK TO CBN TO COLLECT NEW NOTES CAUSE THEY CAN'T EXPLAIN WHERE THEY GOT THE OLD NAIRA NOTES THEY BRINGING IN FOR EXCHANGE TO CBN CAUSE THERE IS NO RECORD THAT THE MONIES WAS DEPOSITED BY A CUSTOMER

FOR THEM TO GO COLLECT NEW NOTES FROM CBN....THEY HAVE TO GIVE CBN OLD NOTES IN EXCHANGE

CBN ISN'T GIVING THEM FREE MONEY

COME AND COLLECT 1 BILLION NAIRA NEW NOTES.....THEY HAVE TO DROP 1 BILLION NAIRA OLD NOTES AND SHOW RECORDS HOW THAT 1 BILLION NAIRA OLD NOTES WAS COLLECTED FROM CUSTOMERS

A CANDID ADVICE ON THE OLD/NEW CURRENCY IN NIGERIA

Old-New Naira (200, 500, 1,000)!!!

My advice;
Except there's an extension, please note the following;
1. A week to the end (from next Sunday, Jan 22), begin to be cautious and selective with the currencies you accept, and where possible, start insisting on the new naira.

2. To be on the safe side, make Friday, January 27, your target. 28 and 29 are weekends. Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 will by God's grace, be the last working days of the time frame. Trust Nigerians, there will be a mad rush that will result in crazy queues in most banks by people in desperation to beat the deadline. Remember the NIN saga.

3. Check with your spouse, children and others in your home who probably are saving by putting cash aside in piggy banks, pots, books or anywhere in the house. They need to break them now, or else they become mere papers by February 1.

4. Watch out for those who in desperation to save their money, will come to transact/buy in large sums using old currencies a day or two before the end of the deadline. You may not be able to pay it into the bank within the short space.

God bless you all.🙏🇳🇬
