The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab has charged the 2023 Batch A Stream I Prospective Corps Members deployed to Osun State and those dislodged from Lagos State to be disciplined and committed to the ideals of the National Youth Service Corps as they have been mobilised for the one year mandatory service to the nation.

Abdulwahab gave the charge while briefing the PCMs at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Ede on Thursday. She urged them to participate actively in all programmes lined up for the three weeks Orientation Course bearing in mind that the Course is sacrosanct to the achievement of success during the service year.

Also in her brief, Abdulwahab highlighted some of the objectives of the NYSC, the cardinal programmes of the Scheme and the importance of the Orientation Course in the achievement of the NYSC objectives of integration, nation building and instiling of discipline, among others in the graduate youths.

She informed the PCMs of the Course content which includes meditations, lectures, social and sports activities, drills, skill acquisition, to mention but a few. She hinted that the Course encourages healthy inter-platoon competitions in order to imbue leadership qualities and team spirit in the members.

She also enlightened them on religious matters, their various entitlements while on Camp, feeding and the need to adhere to the time table, dresscode, security matters and also on the need to maintain the cleanliness of their surroundings.

Speaking on media matters, Abdulwahab warned the PCMs against granting press interviews without the permission of the management of the Scheme. She implored them to put to good use their social media space eschewing all forms of vices and rumour mongering. She urged them to always verify issues and seek clarity on matters related to the Scheme and the service year from the management of the Scheme to avoid misinformation.

Abdulwahab further called on the PCMs to handle Camp facilties with care as the management of the Scheme in the State is doing everything in her capacity to ensure the Corps Members enjoy some level of comfort during the Orientation Course.

Abdulwahab, who has embarked on various renovation projects in the Camp and also acquired more chairs for use in the hall, water tanks in the various hostels, among others, all in a bid to give the Corps Members a home away from home experience, urged them to take good care of the facilities at their disposal.

She commended the PCMs for comporting themselves so far in a disciplined manner, appreciating their doggedness, dexterity and active participation in activities on Camp. She urged them to keep up the good work even as they prepare for their Swearing-in ceremony coming up on Friday.

Speaking on health issues, Abdulwahab urged the PCMs to avail themselves of the services at the Clinic. She stressed that the clinic is always open and therefore no Member should hide in the hostel when sick. She implored the PCMs to make their health status known so the Scheme can take care of them appropriately.

The briefing also featured the introduction of heads of committees and heads of collaborating agencies on Camp, platoon inspectors and their instructors.
