The Carter Center said Saturday that former President Jimmy Carter has entered home hospice care.

The charity created by the 98-year-old former president said on Twitter that after a series of short hospital stays, Carter “decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of additional medical intervention.”

It said he has the full support of his medical team and family, which “asks for privacy at this time and is grateful for the concern shown by his many admirers.”

Carter, a Democrat, became the 39th U.S. president when he defeated former President Gerald R. Ford in 1976. He served a single term and was defeated by Republican Ronald Reagan in 1980.

After a series of short hospital stays, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter today decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of additional medical intervention. He has the full support of his family and his medical team. The Carter family asks for privacy during this time and is grateful for the concern shown by his many admirers.

Jimmy carter is such a good man, he was a very good president too, old age comes with health issues, he's already 98

Wishing him all the best at this difficult time, good men will surely be remembered for their good deeds.

He was the first US president that visited Nigeria.

But how come both Jimmy carter, William J. Clinton and George Bush all came to Nigeria during OBJ administration, none has visited since then.

It shows that Obasanjo is well respected by the international community

In 2015, Jimmy Carter was diagnosed with brain cancer. In 2019 he broke his hip at age 95. The same year, he fell at home requiring 14 stitches.

He was US President from 1977-1981.

Won the Nobel Prize in 2002.

One of the first Senators to visit him at the WH after his election was .... Joe Biden!

Yes, real leaders grin. Baba is still very much relevant. Forget the age he's claiming cheesy. He's in his 90s. Remember Prof Soyinka used to call him an egbon when they were both schooling at BBHS, SAJE in those days...and you can't be addressing someone you're older than, that way. Soyinka would clock 89 this July.

Obj, Buhari, IBB, Gowon, Murtala and Co became heads of state before they clocked 50. If at your age(the so-called leaders of tomorrow) , you're still running after that over 80 years old but claiming 70, saying Emilokan upandan, instead of paving the way and charting a good course for your future( which is now) ,come Saturday, it's your fault if the status quo is allowed to be maintained at the helms

The irony of life..
Just like an infant, we will surely need care and assistance to get by if we live long enough.
But the stress in Lagos and Nigeria as a whole might prevent us from either getting there or lower the age at which assistance will be needed.
