I literally said he has been effectively given a life sentence as the chances of parole are tiny.

Secondly parole has nothing to do with evidence against one. The case has already been decided and he has been sentenced based on the evidence. Parole is more about whether he will be released after 60 years or kept for life based on good behavior while in prison.
