Peter Gregory Obi on his Visit to UNN, UNEC promised Nigerian Students Better Education when he emerges as the Nigerian President after the Nigerian general election, in 2023. At the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) on Thursday, Labour Party’s flag bearer, Mr. Gregory Peter Obi made an appearance at his alma mater where bagged a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and promised Nigerian students a better education. During his 10 minutes address, UNN students commonly referred to as Lions and Lionesses were told to have hope for better education, as against the popular cliché of “education is a scam”. He said, “everybody will say education is a scam, that's because when you finish school, you'll not get a job and you get worried. School education of four years will turn to six to the seven-year course.” The LP presidential candidate, however, stated that if he is allowed to serve the country, four-year education will be four years. He recounted his time as the Governor of Anambra state, saying that when he had an Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike during his tenure, he met and told them, “after we settle this, it will not happen again”. Obi went on to say, “we cannot afford to bear constant striking in our universities, it must end. God so much blessed Nigeria, but your country is not doing anything and that's why we are saying, 'we will move this country from consumption to production”. He made a remark about insecurity in the nation, stating that no longer will students be going back to school and get kidnapped. He jolted, “I'll end kidnapping”.
