Ęnù dún r'ófò!

That's how the Yorubas of South West Nigeria stylishly dismiss any individual who builds castles in the air with mere words. The English would say "it's easier said than done."

Governing Lagos is no easy task and that is why I can't but pity some political lackeys who call themselves candidates of opposition parties who are busy promising extravagant hopes and plans that will never be carried out.

To be Lagos State governor, you need capacity; that astounding virtue born of experience and skill. Next you need grit, otherwise known as courage, resolve or strength of character. Why? Because being Governor of Lagos comes with the need to take certain hard decisions for the benefit of citizens. You see why I said ęnù dùn r'ofò? Lagos is Africa's model megacity and it's 5th largest economy, so not every impressionable lad is fit to be governor.

From Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose time in office set Lagos on the irreversible path to greatness to Babatunde Raji Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, Lagos has had the enviable luck of having only the best and brightest as governor. Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has continued the tradition of raising the bar of exceptional leadership in the public space like his predecessors.

Upon being sworn in as governor on May 29th, 2019, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu immediately hit the ground running because "Èko o gbà gbèré," which loosely translates to, "Lagos waits for no one." The waste management crises occasioned by the ill-fated Visionscape Project of the last administration had turned Lagos into a sprawling refuse dump and Governor Sanwo-Olu wasted no time in tackling the menace. Soon, sanity returned to waste  management and Lagosians are breathing easily. Sanwo-Olu has gone on to create a sanitary landfill.

Talk of proven capacity to tackle multiple issues confronting a megacity like Lagos simultaneously and Governor Sanwo-Olu easily comes to mind. His administration has repositioned the Lagos State Fire Service for greater effectiveness by recruiting over 650 fire servicemen and acquiring 64 brand new fire trucks to enhance their ability to respond to and tackle incidents of fire outbreaks across the state. Going forward, the service continues to improve on its core values of safety, discipline and professionalism for the benefit of all Lagosians.

The construction of over 1,700 kilometers of rigid pavement roads across the state is in line with the THEMES development agenda Governor Sanwo-Olu launched on assuming office to make Lagos a truly 21st century economy. The 4th Mainland bridge, an ambitious 38km long bridge project which will connect Langbasa (Lekki) and Ikorodu across the Lagos lagoon has kicked off under the Sanwo-Olu administration. Projected to cost over 2 billion dollars, the 4th Mainland bridge is expected to be completed in 4 years and Governor Sanwo-Olu has restated his commitment to bringing the vision to pass.

Just like he successfully delivered the Lagos Blue Line Rail Project which was started in 2009 by the Fashola administration, Governor Sanwo-Olu continues to abide by the Lagos State Development Plan 2052 to become Africa’s Model Mega City and Global, Economic and Financial Hub that is Safe, Secure, Functional and Productive. Spurred by the desire to fully deliver on his promises, Governor Sanwo-Olu is the undisputed choice to be governor for another four years. He has the experience, expertise, temperament and knows what makes Lagos work. Dear Lagosians, don't be swayed by mere words. Never forget...

My brother, those that have governed hot states like Lagos State before, where did they get their experience from?
I know where you are headed to.
You want neither Jandor nor Gbadebo period.
On that day, kindly vote for your choice, and allow others, to do same. Let there be no disruption and suppression of voters, who wants to cast their votes. Whosoever wins, is our governor by the grace of God.

The people of Lagos will decide who their governor will be just as they choose who their President should be in the rigged Presidential elections.

The only choice everybody has in Lagos governorship election next week is Sanwo-Olu. Any other unfortunate choice may come with serious consequences.

Great, I never knew this about B.O. S

But what of Jimi Agbaje. The Yorubas, fought him also and said they IGBOS wants to use him as a proxy, to gain control of Lagos State.
Must it be that anytime another candidate comes from the opposition parties that they will always be fought against by the Yorubas?
So no one else apart from your candidate is good for Lagos State?
