Creating happy customers: the impact of customer service

Customer service means providing quality product or service that satisfy the wants of customers and keep them coming back. It is the extra effort made by business establishments to meet the needs, expectations and demands of customers. It is further referred to as the total support provided to the customer before, during and after the sale of goods or service rendered.

Customer service is one of the most fundamental tenets of running a business. Literally everything done, every concept perceived every innovation and associate employed is directed ultimately at pleasing the customer.

To ensure adequate customer retention and healthy business relationship a company must create and tailor policies to benefit their customers, products and services with the aim of eliminating inconveniences experienced by the customers.

In this same light the personnel of the customer service Unit should posses the following skills and qualities :
*Empathy
*Courtesy
*Attentiveness
*Communication and listening skills
*Adequate understanding of the product or service
*Time management
*Confidence
*Detail orientation

Over the past 50 years, customer service has played an increasingly important role in the success of businesses, studies show that 68 percent of customers stop using a product or service due to poor customer service.

The impact of customer service in creating happy customers cannot be over emphasized. In fact the longevity of a business, irrespective of size, is overly dependent on the customer satisfaction and customer loyalty, concepts which are entirely sourced from proper and adequate customer service both concepts go hand in hand as customer satisfaction ensures customer loyalty and adequate customer service grows customer satisfaction.

Businesses know that by providing positive experiences for buyers it dramatically impacts their growth by providing values I.e attending to customers inquiries and exceeding their expectations. Which helps businesses to engage their customers and build strong relationships.

It promotes the retention of customers, satisfied customers become devoted buyers when a business is trustworthy. Research shows that there is a 60 to 70 percent likelihood that existing customers will return to make new purchases.

It creates an everlasting impression of the company because happy customers who in turn become loyal customers would continually give positive endorsement and reviews that can help businesses strengthen their brand. A quick observation shows that people often make purchasing decisions based on recommendations from friends and family, rather than an advertising campaign.

it reduces the risk of business failure. Often, we notice that most businesses close their doors within 10 years. One of the contributing factors been poor customer service.Customers easily become frustrated over lingering issues that are not attended to or resolved within a given time frame, such as unclear communication, slow follow up or ignored request.

Having said this, one can conclude that Customer service is important in every business industry, understanding the importance of customer is essential for every business success. Nothing takes the place of keeping your customers happy and satisfied and the way to do so is by providing an exceptional customer service.
