The Independent National Electoral Commission has given assurance that its result-viewing portal that suffered glitches during the presidential and National Assembly elections is now up and running.

It said the IReV portal would be deployed during the governorship and House of Assembly elections on Saturday.

The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, said this in an interview with our correspondent on Sunday.

INEC had received backlash from political parties, observers, individuals and various interest groups for failing to upload polling unit results to the portal prior to the collation.

Some political parties and individuals had relied on the glitch to demand the cancellation of the results.

Meanwhile, checks on Sunday, by our correspondent, revealed that INEC has so far uploaded 161,624 results from 176, 846 polling units, eight days after the presidential poll.

The figure represents 92 per cent of results from all the polling units.
As of the time of filing this report, the electronic transmission of results was still ongoing.

Nigerians had expected that the election results would be uploaded on election day as promised by INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.

However, INEC came under fire for its failure to upload results to its viewing portal, which led to the walkout of some parties agents on Monday at the National Collation Centre.

Checks by our correspondent on Sunday revealed that the results of all the polling units had yet to be uploaded on INEC website.

According to the commission, BolaTinubu, candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, won 8.8 million votes, while main opposition candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi had 6.9 million and 6.1 million votes, respectively.

Speaking on the issue, Oyekanmi stated, “The technical glitches that affected it on February 25 have now been resolved. It will be deployed for the governorship and state Assembly elections scheduled for March 11.”

On the calls on INEC to cancel the election, Oyekanmi said, “The aggrieved parties have a right and an opportunity to ventilate their grievances at the Election Petition Tribunal if they are dissatisfied with the outcome of an election. So far, in the case of the just concluded presidential election, two political parties have openly rejected the outcome and have already indicated their intention to do just that – go to court.”

Network nko?
Cos Nigeria no get network and as usual people ll wail on Saturday say INEC do ojoro. The ojoro is bound to happen and bad network ll make it easy to do.
This is reality. Nigeria suppose don do test run and reaching technological level whereby network isn't our problems anymore. Just look at our shambolic internet banking that was meant to ease us stress of the new note scarcity. What happened is network wey no good for phone calls, data connections before come dey drag space with banking operations network. At the end, you ll queue like mad to buy things from outlets that receive payments via PoS. I recalled I couldn't eat bread since Friday cos the bakery close to my place accepting payment via PoS has network issues. You go stand tire before a single transaction is completed and there's queue always. What about debit errors, dispense errors, failed transfers etc that money has been deducted but still hanging in the air till date.
Nigeria wasn't technologically ripe for BIVAS and e-transactions. Out Internet connection is average.
So to INEC, people go cry again on Saturday.

I don't wish to be INEC chairman now.

If this portal works perfectly in this election, he will have to explain why it didn't work before.

If it doesn't work,he will be outed as a complete failure

Any LP would add states to theei coffers in this election.

Only fools with believe these charlatans. The opposition parties should know what to do by now. BVAS will not work as usual. It is a ploy to deceive the opposition into becoming docile and then they will deliver their preferred candidate by writing results again.

So INEC used the presidential election of the most populous country in Africa to test run their digitisation project? The kind of weird news you see in Nigeria though. Till date I'm still unable to understand the logic behind the "Giant of Africa" cliche

There was never any hitches with the INEC portal.Besides, how come INEC server suddenly developed a problem when it was time to upload results into the IREV?This is a sabotage on the part of INEC chairman.
INEC officials, including the ad-hoc staff are never punish for negligence that is why they continue to subvert the will of the electorates.

It's one excuse After another

What happened to all the money

Inec really failed Nigeria

But that would not stop us from going out to vote

It's only an election that people do not come to vote that they can rig conveniently

Habbaa.!!

This INEC is Very Very Cunning..

They are now talking about the IREV..

The same IREV which they had already badly tampered with.??

We have lots of strong evidences with which to prove that they deleted and replaced the original results of some Polling-units which were originally uploaded into the IREV..
(And they actually left no traces that there were already originally uploaded results which were removed and replaced in such Polling-units.)

INEC should be very much aware that we are more interested in the Electronic Transmission and Collation,, so they should do that one FIRST, and then, they should also upload to the IREV too..
(Let them not come and start being cunning-by-half by uploading the results ONLY to the IREV alone, without doing the more important one which is the Electronic Transmission and Collation)

Even with their tampering if the results that were uploaded to the IREV,, we are still seeing lots of evidences that the results they finally announced were totally different from what they uploaded to the IREV.
