The Owners Of Lagos by Biodun556(m): 11:31am On Mar 06, 2023
1.The Aworis:

more than 70% of Lagos is own by the Aworis. The Benin met the Aworis on Lagos island, conquered them, and the Oba of Benin impose his son as king on Lagos Island alone. Other parts of Lagos are governed by Awori traditional rulers. Even on the island, the chiefs surrounding the king are Yorubas
Note that Awori is a Yoruba tribe and Lagos island is one out of 20 local govt in Lagos.

2. Ijebus:

Epe, Ibeju Leki, and Ikorodu are parts of Lagos owned by the Ijebus. An account suggest that these parts of Lagos have being in existence under traditional rulers before Benin invaded the Aworis on Lagos island.

3. Ogu popular called Egun in Yoruba:

This set of people speak different language. Some of them are Yorubas. They own some parts of Badagry.

4. Egbas:

They are originally from Abeokuta. They own some parts of Agege and Ifako-ijaiye.

5. Slave returnees:

When slave trade was abolished. Some slaves that were returned settled in Lagos and become part of the indigene.

Also note:

The reason you may find it difficult to see Lagos indigene in commercial areas is because when Lagos was Federal Capital Territory, many indigenes were displaced because of government aquisition of land. For instance, the Murtala Muhammed international airport was built on land occupied by a whole village called Ewu. These villagers were relocated to pave way for the airport

Most people living in surulere were evicted from Lagos island

If you refer to Lagos island as the whole Lagos.

No6. Niger Delta oil money, you have to deduct all the billions we pumped into building Lagos and give back to us, more than 21 years of continued funding from oil reserves.

A vote for APC in the Lagos Guber election, is a vote for Lagos state to remain in Tinubu's pocket.

A vote for LP in the Lagos Guber election is a vote to dismantle Tinubu's Lagos criminal organization whose aim is to perpetually rob the wealth of Lagos state.

A vote for labor party is a vote to ensure that from hence forth the will of the people will prevail in Lagos state governorship election, as the criminal organization that always rig the election in their favor has been dismantled.

If you claim bini owns Lagos. Then I give u this assignment why is the paramount ruler of bini Oba of bini referred to as “OBA”? which is a Yoruba language

Bini never own Lagos. To own a community back then is by survival of the fittest more of what Fulanis were doing back them. Come to ur Land conquer you and take over.

According to history trade was already going on in Lagos before the bini invasion in Lagos.

It shall never be well for those who took history from our academic curriculum

If you igbos can't hold political post in your brotherly States, that's not applicable in Yoruba land

Yorubas are homogeneous

the governor of Delta State bears ifeanyi, former governor of Rivers State bears rotimi amechi but that does not mean they are Igbo or Yoruba respectively..
There is obi of agbor, obi is an Igbo word but agbor is not an Igbo town according to the Nigeria history.

Bro, it’s a two different thing. When we talk about name it’s totally different from title which practically doesn’t embrace “changes”

OBA of Benin is not something u can put in comparative to a mere name of a person it’s a a paramount title which no one dare share. To read and understand the history of Lagos

Pls read here (mod pls this is for education purspose sir. Make I no chop ban o)
