The citizens suffering are only doing themselves. What does it cost to open a palmpay account, even some have accounts but adamantly refuse to accept transfers because a fool will buy money to in turn buy goods from them. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this policy except the illiterates suffering from it implementation.

Why not put our kind of economy in consideration. No African country at the moment can operate a full-scale cashless policy. Nigeria started this cashless policy in 2012 but it's implementation has been gradual and flexible.

Are you ignorant or something? There are a lot of illiterates in the country that can’t operate a smartphone. Also, moving short distance of 50-100naira, do you expect people to be transferring that amount?

I'm not an economist, but a Cash based economy will suffer the kind of shock we are experiencing, plus the people that are enlightened enough may not be up to 30%. More people will suffer from illiteracy than from the policy itself. Meanwhile, the Buhari administration needs to be more proactive and pragmatic in the twilight of their govt's sensitization of the policy and release interventionist programmes to alleviate the effects on the masses.
This is what the mediocre APC government doesn't know!

Nigerian economy is mainly an informal economy mostly controlled by barely literate individuals.

It's either it's a stewpid policy or a good policy with very very very poor execution.

You people thought Buhari was joking when he said from Top to Bottom? By the time his administration is up you'll know what's up. To be frank, Nigeria needs to go on one week vacation to celebrate Buhari's exit after May 29th.

Guy, sometimes I wonder if you have a brain in your head! So illiterate market woman selling Tomatoes that does not have an account will go and download palm pay ba? Abi na de ordinary cobbler mending shoes that will accept transfer ba? So assuming I am moving intra state from point A to B I go do transfer ba? Even United States that pioneer cashless transactions still use cash! Secondly, ask yourself, even if we are to go the cashless route, infrastructure - wise, are we ready for seamless cashless transactions? Someone will do transfer and it will take a week for the recipient to be credited! Guy abeg park well.

I have been wondering if the CBN and president don't get report on economic activities weekly. To see the huge decline in commerce since this useless policy. Infact this report is not correct.....it's over 40trillon.

I can tell you for a fact at the end of March there will be additional 5k job loss due to this policy. Buhari is a bastard!

Ode, so Abdulkadir Ahmed ( CBN governor 82 - 93) was an IBO man when Buhari carried out the Naira redesign that had same disastrous impact of today back in 1984? Or is it the naira devaluation or SAP ( Structural Adjustment Policy) that led to the plummeting of the value of the naira and by extension our economy? Guy abeg no de reason with your anus and stop viewing everything from a tribal prism. Besides, it was an IBO woman Ngozi Iweala that bailed Nigeria from our crushing debt profile back in 1999, same woman ensured that the Naira - Dollar exchange rate didn't exceed #250 throughout GEJ's tenure. FYI i am a full blooded Idoma guy.
