While going through Facebook I came across a page that explains names of some places in Lagos. This is to butress the fact that Lagos belongs to Yoruba. Here we go: Ojuelegba: The spot for worshipping "Elegbera" ( the one erroneously revered to as the Satan ). Idimangoro: At the foot of mango tree. Idi Iroko: At the foot of Iroko tree. Idi Araba: At the foot of Araba tree. Dopemu: Hold oil palm tree. Papa Asafa: Asafa's Savannah Mosafejo: I run away from court case. Alasia: The flag bearer. Ajegunle: the goddess of wealth has arrived. Isokoko: Pot stall Elere: marshy land owner Olowora: Owner with money to buy swamp Ile Zik: Zik's house Isale Oja: Down market. Odi Olowo: A wealthy deaf and dumb. Moshalasi Alaja: Mosque built by Alaja. Ojurin: Railway line spot. (Where you have rail lines) Animashaun: The generous one. Alagomeji: The one with two wrist watches. Alapere: The one who makes basket. Abule Egba: Egba (Abeokuta indigenes ) village. Ijeshatedo: Ijesha people ( Ilesha indigenes) settlement. Kindly add yours. Proudly Lagosian. Proudly Yoruba. Say No to Ipob takeover of Lagos State. 1 Like |
