"Justice for Roxie: A Heartbreaking Tale of Animal Cruelty in Nigeria" (Video)

In a heartbreaking incident, a beloved pet dog named Roxie, an American bully, was brutally murdered in Corporative Villa, Bodore; a gated community in Lagos, Nigeria. Roxie belonged to a young man who loved her deeply and cared for her like family. However, a series of unfortunate events led to her tragic and untimely demise.

One night, Roxie wandered off into a neighbor's house, a mistake that cost her dearly. According to the community's law, all stray dogs must be shot on sight, and unfortunately, the security officers of the community didn't hesitate to execute this cruel punishment. Roxie was shot thrice in the neck, in front of the owner's brother, and bled to death slowly.

The emotional trauma and pain that Roxie's owner and his family went through are unimaginable. It's not just the loss of a beloved pet, but also the senseless and brutal way in which she was taken away. Dogs are not just pets; they are an integral part of our lives, providing companionship, love, and emotional support. They become our family members, and their loss can be as devastating as losing a human loved one.

This incident highlights the need for greater awareness and empathy towards animals, particularly pets, in Nigeria. People need to understand that animals, like humans, have emotions and deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. We must learn to coexist with animals and find ways to resolve conflicts without resorting to violence.

Moreover, it is high time that the Nigerian government takes animal cruelty seriously and enforces strict laws to protect animals from such heinous acts. The absence of an animal cruelty law in the country has given rise to such gruesome incidents, and it's high time that this issue is addressed.

In conclusion, Roxie's tragic death is a reminder of the emotional significance of dogs in our lives and the urgent need to show kindness towards animals. We hope that this incident creates awareness and brings about a change in people's attitudes towards animals in Nigeria. Let's strive towards a kinder and more compassionate society, where animals are treated with love and respect they deserve.

i dont know the circumstances of this issue BUT....as much as i fully understand that a pet is part of the family etc, i also understand that if a dog wanders around and "possibly" become aggressive towards strangers (especially children), then what happened above would be a normal solution.

when a dog attacks a person, you dont have time to think about it being someone's pet etc... you just want it to stop attacking you or your children etc. so what would be more important here is that OWNERS MAKE SURE THAT THEIR PETs ARE ON A LEASH AND SECURED AT ALL TIME. it is an owner's duty to make sure that their pet is not a danger to others.

The owners of Roxie should not have allowed her wander off into the street knowing fully well what becomes of stray dogs in that area. If the security personnel are not licensed ti use guns, you should go and report them to the police.

It seems trigger happiness is a crazy tendency in low minds with guns. Shooting the dog thrice clearly shows the men who shot her had the intent to kill whether she was or wasn't a threat to anyone at the point in time.

Well, the owner was at fault for negligence.

Lol… We can’t even get human rights in this country and y’all are advocating for animal rights?

I own dogs and I can tell you that a typical dog especially big dogs like bullies get aggressive towards non owners and even go as far as attacking them.

You never want to experience that bite force clamping off parts of your flesh!

I can only blame the owner, always keep your dogs on a strong leash.

Next time make sure your dogs stay in your house!

Nothing any animal or thing can do can make it have more value than a human being. If u think otherwise, that is sickness.. Like u need deliverance.

Can you imagine? The dog owner was RECKLESS and NEGLIGENT. The estate should actually sue her. Guard your damn dog and don't constitute a nuisance. I have been chased by a dog before so Temi yemi. Irresponsible dog owner.

Lol, this is pure negligence and the dog owner should be sued for allowing his dog to stray into another person's compound thereby terrifying the kids & posing a great deal of danger to their lives. It clearly showed that the owner cannot train a dog. If & after when he is free, the zoo management should monitor him so as not to allow him have anyone dog henceforth

Emotional blackmail

This incident highlights the need for greater awareness and empathy towards animals, particularly pets, in Nigeria. People need to understand that animals, like humans, have emotions and deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. We must learn to coexist with animals and find ways to resolve conflicts without resorting to violence.

Animal rights activist, you're right. But woe betide you if you still use leather sandals, shoes, belt & bags. If you've not made a thread for other animals, then
you're a big hypocrite. A bigger hypocrite if you ride horse or use camel as a means of transportation. You're even a bigger hypocrite if you eat meat 🍖 be it chicken, beef mutton chevon , pork etc.

Moreover, it is high time that the Nigerian government takes animal cruelty seriously and enforces strict laws to protect animals from such heinous acts. The absence of an animal cruelty law in the country has given rise to such gruesome incidents, and it's high time that this issue is addressed.

This is a misplaced priority. Channel this wailing on the respect properly. We've not treated humans right, na animals be your wahala. Same animal Buhari & Tinubu eats & pick the remnant stuck in their teeth with toothpick?

In conclusion, Roxie's tragic death is a reminder of the emotional significance of dogs in our lives and the urgent need to show kindness towards animals. We hope that this incident creates awareness and brings about a change in people's attitudes towards animals in Nigeria. Let's strive towards a kinder and more compassionate society, where animals are treated with love and respect they deserve.

So it's the killing of this dog that led the police CP Hundeyin to do the tweet in the thread below. Honestly shooting and killing an harmless dog is a bit too extreme especially when you know that it belongs to someone within the estate. What if the bullet missed or rebounded and hit a human being? The security person and whoever gave him the order to shoot deserve to be arrested.

It wasn't an innocent dog. It's a Pitbull for God's sake. It isn't even a natural breed, just crossbred for dogfighting. That dog has the highest record for killing humans in the whole world more than every other breed combined. There was a story about two pitbulls who tore their owners 2 year old baby in half, and killed the 8 year old sibling, because they were triggered while playing with the kids. It is notorious for its bite, hold and shake style where it bites in and doesn't let go until it is dead or mortally injured.

The members of that community are lucky nobody was harmed before the damn dog was put down. It's a happy day in heaven and hell when a Pitbull gets taken down.
