He was the immediate past chairman of PDP in Taraba state. Few days to the gubernatorial primaries, Lt. General T.Y Danjuma flew into the state and endorsed him as the gubernatorial candidate and it stood.

When we elected Muhammad lawal in 1999, the first six months he didn't pay salary.
People cried to olusola saraki that the man you brought is treating us badly.

Gov. Lawal said he had to first recoup the money he spent on election of saraki when he contested to be app presidential candidate.
