No it Is not Late, it's just as it was planed. If Ayu was sacked before the elections, Atiku & not the party would have benefited from Ayu's sacked. The G5 never wanted Atiku to win since he insisted that Mr. Ayu should stay against the wishes of the G5. So they wanted the elections to come and go before they show Ayu the exit door, but Ayu not knowing what was coming for him, played into the G5 hands by suspending some party members including Governor Ortom
